Job Summary The Economic and Industry Analyst will analyze and make recommendations for progress of the sustainable fashion industry, from farms and new materials to processing to brands and design, in New York State and in general (in the U.S. and worldwide). The Analyst will review and keep abreast of pertinent studies and research, and will seek information from industry data sources, carry out interviews and surveys, and analyze and interpret the information. The work is located at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as part of the Fashion Innovation Center (FIC). The Analyst will interact with FIC members and participants to lgain about the industry, discuss sustainable fashion industry problems and potential solutions, consider ways to advance the industry in New York State, and document significant information and findings in report, paper, and/or book form. The Analyst will also provide suggestions where significant to innovative project participants in the FIC's accelerator. The Analyst will work closely with the Center Director and other FIC members. Minimum Qualifications Doctorate (ex: Ph.D./J.D./Ed.D. or other) in Economics, Management, or a related field practice in economics and/or management including research study design and interpretation, econometric and statistical analysis, and data collection. significant combinations of education, training and practice may be considered. Preferred Qualifications Minimum expertise, expertise, and Abilities • capability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with other employees, faculty, and students in the campus community, and with FIC members and participants from industry and other backgrounds • expertise of modern research in industrial organization, strategic management, environmental economics, and/or related fields • Excellent writing and presentation expertise • Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Stata, and R, and with library research and data information sources for economics and management • Demonstrated capability to execute publishable research • capability to carry out surveys and compile data using appropriate software and techniques • capability to set up and conduct econometric and statistical studies • capability to analyze and interpret statistical data • capability to communicate statistical data in a clear, concise manner • capability to maintain accurate and detailed records • capability to understand and follow directions; must be able to work closely with others • Analytical, reasoning and problem-solving expertise • capability to work under pressure and meet inflexible deadlines • capability to remain calm and composed when dealing with difficult situations or people Shift Business Hours: Monday - Friday TravelOccasional overnight travel may be required (10% or less) Starting income/Rate Expected hiring range: $70,000 - $80,000 Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials.
