Biomedical Engineering at Rensselaer is one of the first programs of its kind in the country. Today, the department has 13 tenure-track/tenured faculty, 6 non-tenure track faculty, and over 350 undergraduate and 60 graduate students. The department is home to six NSF CAREER award winners, two NAE members, a recipient of a NIH DP2 award, and two NIH T32 training grants. Job Summary The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the adjunct Professor level. Areas of priority are neuroengineering, immunoengineering, microbiome-engineering, and biomedical imaging. Candidates must have a Ph.D., or foreign degree equivalent, in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline. All degree requirements must be complete at the time of appointment. Candidates for the rank of adjunct Professor must exhibit, through their accomplishments, the promise of future distinction in research, scholarship, and education. The prosperous candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the BME curriculum, develop and maintain a robust program of externally sponsored research, and participate in service activities of the BME Department, the School of Engineering, and Rensselaer. The Biomedical Engineering Department has long-standing collaborative relationships with Albany Medical College and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, including the recently established joint Center for Engineering and Precision Medicine. RPI is situated at the confluence of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers in the city of Troy, NY. Troy is part of the greater capital region of New York, which also includes Albany, Schenectady, and Saratoga. It enjoys the convenience of a metropolis in a tranquil and bucolic setting.
