Job Summary
The Business Manager is responsible for managing the business and administrative operations of the Strategic Alliances and Translations portfolio. The Business manager will represent the portfolio on business affairs to the Rensselaer community and will serve as a resource to the leadership abilities and staff to ensure consistent financial and budgeting practices that comply with Institute and Portfolio guidelines. Actively participates in the short and long range financial and performance planning of the portfolio. supervises business staff within the portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications
   » Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or similar field
   » Five (5) years of related progressively responsible practice in the administration, monitoring and management of budgets, including research and/or other closely related types of restricted funds and two (2) years of management and supervision practice
   » candidates must meet stated minimum education and practice requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
   » Master's Degree
   » practice in higher education or research setting
   » Familiarity with federal and state government regulations as they pertain to research administration 

Minimum expertise, expertise, and Abilities
   » capability to analyze and interpret reports, documents and statistical data
   » capability to execute budget reporting and forecasting, as well as account reconciliation
   » expertise of financial software, including spreadsheet, database, and data warehouse applications
   » Proficiency in MS Office Suite software applications
   » capability to lgain and/or use SCT Banner finance, position control and labor modules or other appropriate applications
   » expertise of fund located budgeting in a non-profit setting
   » Excellent verbal and written communications expertise
   » capability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
   » capability to work as individually or as part of a team
   » Attention to detail
   » Organizational expertise

Starting income/Rate
Expected hiring range: $ $86,500 - $95,000

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaer's good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
