Job Summary The Laboratory Manager provides day-to-day supervision of the Mechanical Testing and Metallography Laboratories including ensuring safe and efficient operation. The position is responsible for training of student, faculty, and staff on the proper use of laboratory equipment, provides technical skills and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the equipment. The Laboratory Manager collaborates with faculty to update laboratory curriculum ensuring it remains at the forefront of materials engineering education in addition to the delivery of the curriculum. Minimum Qualifications » Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field » Three years significant practice Or » significant combination of education, practice, and training Preferred Qualifications » Master's degree in engineering or related field Minimum expertise, Skills, and Abilities » Demonstrated hands on engineering practice in fields significant to metallography and mechanical testing laboratories » skills to manage metallography and mechanical testing laboratories with limited additional training and a commitment to acquiring and maintaining additional required skills » Demonstrated oral and written communication skills » Planning, organizing and effective time management skills » capability to analyze and interpret technical and other data » Excellent interpersonal and communication skills » capability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives » capability to anticipate and solve problems » capability to provide technical instruction » capability to foster an inclusive environment and work with a diverse population Shift Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required Starting income/Rate The hiring range for this job offer is between $75,000 - $80,000 annually.
