Market Coordinator

Milestone Mill is a new grain mill in the Hudson Valley dedicated to providing high quality flour and other foods to the local community while supporting sustainable farming. We are pursuing a Market Coordinator to assist with our retail sales efforts through local Farmers Markets. this job offer will work as part of a team and will be responsible for all tasks related to one or more markets during the summer and winter market season. The position is part-time and located near Kingston, NY.
Position Summary
The Market Coordinator will report to the Distribution Manager and will work in close collaboration with other members of the Milestone Mill team. This individual will be responsible for coordinating the Farm Hub Farmers Market stall and conducting sales at various local farmer’s market's locations in the Hudson Valley region which will be focused on sales of grain products such as flours, dried beans, and grain corn products. Responsibilities include loading the Milestone Mill vehicle with market supplies and products, driving to and from the markets, set-up and breakdown of the market stall, customer service and market sales, inventory tracking of market supplies and products, and some basic record keeping tasks as needed.
Essential tasks and Responsibilities
   » Safely and efficiently operate vehicle as necessary for transportation of market-related products and equipment
   » Set-up booth and arrange merchandise to create an attractive display and promote sales
   » Conduct market sales and interface with customers in a professional and friendly manner
   » Take-down booth and organize merchandise for safe transportation and ease of inventory management
   » Monitor inventory levels of product and assist with market preparations in collaboration with the Distribution Manager and other Market Coordinators
   » Attend required Sawkill Center training for the use of job-related equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and vehicles, as well as food, facility, and worker safety
   » Accurately maintain appropriate paperwork, such as vehicle logs and sales records from markets
   » Abide by all farmer’s markets policies
   » Attend meetings, as needed, and provide feedback to help shape Sawkill Center’s collective work
   » Support marketing planning and activities, in collaboration with colleagues
   » Other job-related tasks as assigned
Qualifications
   » Minimum 2 years significant practice such as customer service, food sales, and/or food distribution, with farmer’s market practice preferred
   » Familiarity with food and agriculture, or a demonstrated availability to learn, and the capability to speak clearly and knowledgeably with customers
   » Superior attention to detail
   » A full range of mobility is required, including bending and crouching, as well as the capability to lift heavy items up to 50 lbs. repeatedly.
   » capability to communicate in a friendly professional manner with customers and co-workers
   » Working knowledge of computer programs such as MS Excel, Google Sheets, MS Outlook, and MS Word
   » capability to contribute to a work environment of mutual respect, team building, and collaboration
   » Commitment to and availability to deepen knowledge of Milestone Mill’s mission and values of equity and sustaincapability
   » Availcapability to work weekends and evenings as required by market hours of operation
   » English proficiency required and Spanish proficiency a plus
   » Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
This is a part-time, non-exempt position with up to a 29-hour work week. The pay rate is $21 per hour.
