Full Time Clinical Faculty (Tennessee)

The Full-time Clinical Faculty member is a faculty position with exempt status. Reporting to the Department Chair, this non-tenure track full-time faculty position is expected to provide academic instruction with specific clinical responsibilities added in to nursing degree learners. Responsibilities include teaching, clinical instructing, clinical site management, curriculum development and oversight, committee work, and maintaining a program of scholarship, continued learning, and/or practice within their area of skills and specialization. 
Full-time Clinical faculty are expected to support department and school leadership abilities in terms of recommendations on program and course design, the assessment of student learning in conformity with university, college, and program standards, and the execution of data-informed and high-quality learning practices within courses.
The full-time faculty position will provide a benefit to the University by aligning courses and programs with accreditation requirements, ensuring prosperous clinical practices for our nursing students, serving as a model by providing rigorous oversight of course development and revisions, and facilitating student learning and success in support of the University’s academic programs. Full-time Clinical faculty are expected to show a availability to take on essential functions and tasks as needed, within the department, school, college, or university, and as directed by the department, school, and college leadership abilities. this job offer is located out of Tennessee with the option of considering remote candidates who currently reside within Tennessee. Remote employees will have mandatory travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. The University will supply necessary equipment to execute the essential functions of this job (e.g., laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise. 
Curriculum and Instruction
   » Teach 2 courses (250/275 or 275/290 or equivalent) five out of our six terms/year on a remote basis and advance student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in conformity with established course outlines, University standards, and external benchmarks of quality.
   » 275 includes synchronous virtual clinical group debriefing sessions (4 hours/week).
   » Fulltime office hours are expected.
   » Will have a clinical instructor assignment within the section being taught within each term spent teaching.
   » Build and retain effective relationships with established clinical sites. Work collaboratively with the CNHS Clinical team and others to identify and secure additional clinical sites.
   » Assist with recruitment, training and retention of PT clinical instructors.
   » Evaluate PT clinical instructors.
   » Attend and present at monthly lunch and lgain events.
   » Assist with the development and/or revision of courses as needed, including serving as subject matter expert for course development projects, with a focus on data-informed continuous quality improvement.
   » Review courses on an continuing basis using data on course and instructional quality to improve student learning and success results.
   » Participate in program improvement initiatives including university-established program reviews, supporting the department to improve program performance.
   » Participate in developing, implementing, and analyzing student learning results and utilize data to improve the quality of course, program, and student results;
   » Adhere to all policies specified in the Faculty Handbook and serve as a model to other faculty.
   » Confer with members of educational committees and advisory groups to obtain expertise of subject areas, and relate curriculum materials to specific subjects, individual student needs, occupational areas, and discipline expertise.
Institutional and professional service:
   » Serve on the appropriate University, College, departmental and professional society committees as directed by the Department Chair.
   » Attend Commencement and connected activities.
   » Contribute to professional development activities, both departmental and university-wide.
   » Participate in activities supporting the University's strategic plan and the goals of the
   » Provide subject matter assistance to advising, and in collaboration with the academic advisors provide academic guidance to students.
   » Provide professional assistance to instructional faculty, staff, and students.
   » Facilitate recruitment, retention, and timely graduation of students.
   » Promote and coordinate student professional organizations.
   » Support community and industry relationships, including support for project partnerships and student opportunities.
   » Contribute to recruitment of dedicated and diverse instructional faculty.
   » Comply with published College Policies and Procedures.
Professional Development & Research may include:
   » Research and/or compile data as may be assigned.
   » Participate in professional development activities, both departmental and college-wide.
   » Maintain current expertise in the subject matter area and innovate effective teaching/ learning strategies.
   » Pursue furthering of domain expertise and academic skills through scholarly activities by attending professional conferences, publishing papers or articles, etc.
   » Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
Minimum Qualifications  
   » Master’s Degree in related field – PhD desirable, higher education and online teaching practice is required. Candidates must be certified, licensed or license eligible as applicable. 
   » Active and unencumbered NY and TN nursing license.
   » practiced pre-licensure clinical education (minimum 1 year) 3 years preferred
   » Peds/OB and Mental Health practice preferred.
   » Minimum of 5 years of RN practice In varied clinical areas, caring for patients across the lifespan.
   » practice as a preceptor or mentoring new nurses In the clinical setting preferred.
   » Current clinical practice within the acute care hospital setting.
   » practice supervising nursing students and/or new graduate RNs.
   » Strong verbal and written communication skills, with capability to present Information clearly, concisely, and accurately; friendly, persuasive speaking and writing style.
   » practice In the Implementation of curriculum In pre-licensing nursing degree programs.
   » practice with various modes of educational technology, Including video conferencing software
   » Current CPR certification.
   » Demonstrate competency with nursing skills and connected technology (EHR, automated medication dispensing system, smart Intravenous pumps, etc.)
   » Demonstrate familiarity with assigned clinical unit(s), facility policies and procedures; complete all facility-required training.
