Risk Mitigation Intern

Overview

Primary function: The Risk Mitgation Intern will work with the Risk team under the areas of Fraud and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). 
Program Length: Early June - Mid August
Hours: 30 Hours between Monday - Friday; 8:00a - 5:00p
Pay Rate: $20/hr
Responsibilities
   » Investigate alerts or notifications produced within fraud analytics software, and other everyday reports, related to potential misuse or abuse of products and services such as account and deposit fraud, wire fraud, loan fraud and identity theft.
   » Track fraud losses and trends and maintain related logs or cases within the fraud analytics software and core system.
   » Assist in monitoring financial transactions performed by or through HVCU to detect those that involve any entity or person subject to the OFAC laws and regulations, and the review of 314(a) requests in conjunction with the USA Patriot Act.
   » Adhere to Credit Union’s work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.
   » Be consistent and punctual in the submission of all work assignments.
   » Ask for help. This is a learning practice if you are unsure please ask for clarification.
   » Apply expertise acquired in the academic setting to your internship.
   » Assume personal and professional responsibilities for actions and activities.
   » Utilize a courteous, enthusiastic, open-minded, critical approach to policies and procedures within the department.
   » Ensure departmental compliance with all Credit Union policies and procedures as well as Federal and State regulatory requirements.
   » Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained expertise. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned.
   » Embrace and apply HVCU’s guiding principles to all activities and responsibilities. This includes the Credit Union’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, Employee and Member Value Propositions, Sales and Service Model, and commitment to Lean Six Sigma practices. Qualifications
   » Criminal Justice or related major is required. 
   » Students must be in their sophomore year or later with a GPA of 2.8+
   » Past internship practice is preferred.
