Course Design Quality Reviewer

The course design quality reviewer will be a member of the design team in the Instructional Design and Development (IDD) unit at Excelsior University. Our team works closely with subject matter experts and other community and university stakeholders to develop transformative, engaging, high-quality learning practices for our students.    
Course design quality reviewers work closely with the IDD team to ensure all our courses meet regulatory requirements, Quality Matters course design standards, and our university course design tenets. In addition to reviewing courses, you will participate in research and innovation projects that aim to advance the field of course design, teaching, and learning. This is a full-time hybrid function with a minimum of two required days at Excelsior's home office in Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked in the house.
tasks and Responsibilities: 
   » Work closely with the Director of Quality Assurance to ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards pertaining program and course development, such as federal regulations for online teaching, accreditation requirements, University policies, and Quality Matters standards. 
   » Advise other team members on compliance issues.  
   » Remain current with regulatory requirements for academic program developments in higher education.  
   » Identify opportunities to improve adoption of new practices that elevate our programs to the highest quality.  
   » Review courses for compliance with the University’s standards for course design and Quality Matters rubric.  
   » Create training and reference materials on quality standards and compliance for faculty and staff.  
   » Ensure compliance with copyright and accessibility laws, University course tenets, and Quality Matters rubric in all of our courses.  
   » Perform internal audits to ensure all programs and courses meet required quality standards. 
   » Collaborate with IDD team members and other university stakeholders to develop processes to streamline quality checks all over the program development and maintenance process.  
   » Consult with faculty and subject matter experts on best practices that provide high quality learning practices for our students.  
   » Foster faculty adoption of quality standards and innovative pedagogical strategies that promote student learning and increase student choice and access to educational opportunities.  
   » Provide quality support to projects from the planning phase to project completion. 
   » Perform other tasks as assigned or required.  
Qualifications required

   » Bachelor's degree in instructional design, related field, or equivalent work practice.   
   » Working expertise of design principles, user interfaces, web standards, and uscapability guidelines. 
   » Working expertise of copyright laws.  
   » Quality Matters Peer Reviewer Certification. 
   » 2-3 years of practice applying the Quality Matters rubric to course development and reviews. 
   » Excellent attention to detail.  
   » Strong relationship-building expertise.  
   » capability to manage multiple, complex projects concurrently. 
   » capability to quickly lgain new tools and technologies and adapt to an evolving field.  
   » Familiarity with universal design for learning (UDL) and accessible technology guidelines, such as WCAG 2.1.  
   » capability to work collaboratively and effectively manage projects that involve diverse individuals who may be local or at a distance.  
   » Strong analytical, organizational, and project management expertise.  
   » capability to adapt to change and lgain new procedures. 
   » Online course design practice.  
The hiring income range for this job offer is $46,000.00 - $55,000.00.
