Job Summary The Department of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Troy, NY, invites applications from outstanding candidates for multiple tenure-track adjunct professor positions in computer science. We are particularly interested in the areas of software, languages, and systems, algorithms and theory, natural language processing, computer vision, quantum computing, and cross-cutting topics. Strong candidates in other areas will also be considered. RPI has invested significant resources into next generation computing and AI, with the launch of the Future of Computing Institute which focuses on new computing paradigms and AI to deal with societal challenges. It is the first university in the world to house a 127-qubit IBM System One quantum computer. RPI is also a founding member of the $485M Empire AI initiative in New York State. We are pursuing outstanding candidates with skills in one or more of the following areas: »Software, Languages, and Systems »Algorithms and Theory »Natural Language Processing »Computer Vision »Quantum Computing »Cross-cutting Topics in Computing Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in Computer Science or a related area, and they must show evidence of emerging research distinction and a clear interest in graduate and undergraduate education. prosperous candidates will have tasks that include developing and maintaining robust programs of research and scholarship, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and service to the department, to Rensselaer, and to the professional community. Starting income/Rate Expected hiring range: $125,000-$135,000 per 9-month academic year Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials.
