JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY
this job offer is responsible for working closely with youth, families, and all team members in developing behavior plans and individualized crisis management plans. this job offer will provide these services in the RTF, in family homes, and in the community.

ESSENTIAL tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other tasks may be assigned. Employees are expected to be awake and alert while working.
Participate in every family planning meeting and every Child and Family Team meeting for each family during RTF admission.
Create preventive, behavioral, and crisis plans for each youth in the RTF. These plans include self-care plans, home crisis plans, coping plans, and ICMPs. Review and/or revise individual safety plans after every significant incident and at every treatment review.
Maintain the RTFs analysis of incident trend data, such as frequency/duration; individuals involved (residents and staff); time, location, and precipitating factors, to refine quality improvement efforts. Report monthly at team meeting.
Expand/analyze all incident data trends to feed back for behavior plans.
Ensure all staff members who potentially may be involved in requesting and/or participating in a restraint have completed an OMH approved crisis management training curriculum.
Offer continuing mentoring and coaching to direct care staff in area of trauma informed care and de-escalation techniques.
Use ARC clinical expertise to promote recovery oriented, strength-located approach with an emphasis on asset skill and resiliency building in everyday therapeutic activities.
Debrief with each young person post restraint. Participate in post restraint staff debrief meetings.
Maintain contact with families and provide psycho-educational and skill building activities for families so that a strength located behavioral support approach is maintained when the child returns to a community setting. Spend time with the family in the family home or in the community to practice learned skills in real time.
Collaborate with school staff on individualized behavior plans. Attend school meetings as assigned.
Ensure approved restraint techniques are used when restraint is necessary. Observe all restraints if present and feasible.
Create behavior plans with consultation of the team psychologist, youth and family. Communicate and revise behavior plans with the treatment team.

EDUCATION and/or practice
Requires a Bachelors degree in a human services or related field with three years of practice working with children with serious emotional disturbance with mental health diagnosis.
Specialized training/skills in the area of trauma informed care, behavior planning, and crisis avoidance strongly desired.
CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE
Drivers license is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work requires up to 25% community travel/visits.
Community travel/visits require visits to client homes.
Direct care of clients; required to execute Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques.
