Security agentPosition Title:Security agent Department/School: Security income/Pay Rate: $19.76 Per Hour/24.61 after 6 months Summary: Marist College seeks applications for the position of Security agent. The Security agent is responsible for providing excellent customer service and focuses on safety and security to all members of the Marist community, including parents and guests. this job offer supports the institutional ideals of excellence in education, a sense of community, and a commitment to service. The Security agent is responsible for the security of equipment and real property, remains alert and engaged at all times, demonstrates an knowledge and embraces engagement with a diverse population, and is capable of handling crisis situations and making decisions located upon policy. Minimum Qualifications required » High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of practice directly related to the tasks and responsibilities specified. » Possess a valid NYS Security Guard Certification, with verification of the 16-hour basic OJT training certification » Valid Driver’s License with no serious convictions » Must be able to lift 50 pounds Essential Functions: » Patrol assigned area on foot, in assigned motor vehicle, or other specialized vehicle to ensure personal, building, and equipment security » Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security » Uses University keys to open and close buildings » Monitors closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities » Inform and warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles » Provide escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty, as necessary; provides other public assistance, such as lockout services, jump-starts, and routine information » Watch for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations » Contact emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required » Remain alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate; may confront and/or detain violators, as required, until police arrive » Perform periodic checks of emergency call boxes and/or street lights to ensure proper functioning; reports malfunctions as required » May provide safe and efficient transportation to University employees and/or visitors, as requested, using an institutional vehicle » Patrol and monitors assigned parking areas to provide public security and enforce infractions utilizing automated ticket system. Maintains security controls for issued keys; safeguards and controls issued University equipment » Prepare automated incident reports » Perform miscellaneous job-related tasks as assigned » Provide strong student focused costumer service » Identify fire safety issues and report observations Preferred Qualifications required » capability to prosperously conduct security patrols without direct supervision » Emergency Medical Technician certified by the NY State Department of Health » capability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing » capability to operate computer to complete reports and assignment » capability to safely operate a motor vehicle » capability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures » Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation » capability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations » capability to execute CPR/AED » Skill in performing building security and lock procedures » Conform to tasks detailed in the Security agent Manual and other tasks deemed necessary by the department policies » capability to understand, follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures » A strong service orientation and demonstrated capability to work in a diverse, multicultural community » capability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel Required Application Documents: Resume, Cover Letter, & Contact Information of 3 Professional References Benefits: The position includes a comprehensive benefit package*.
