adjunct ControllerBard Collegeadjunct ControllerEmployer Website:Position Summary and Responsibilities The adjunct Controller assumes responsibility for the College's everyday operational accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grants management and gift management in support of the College's mission. this job offer must be able to self-manage and multi-task in a fast-paced multi-faceted office and will provide guidance and support to a team of professionals and specialists in carrying out these functions in order to ensure that these activities are organized, accurate, efficient, and being completed in a timely manner. The adjunct Controller will work with a number of departments across campus, so they must be able to communicate complex accounting information in ways that can be easily understood by those without an accounting background. The adjunct Controller will also provide support in ensuring that the College complies with accounting principles plus federal, state, and local laws and regulations. this job offer will manage and assist with annual audits and the preparation of financial statements and internal reports, and be expected to execute advanced account analysis and reconciliations routinely and expediently. The adjunct Controller will be responsible for ensuring that all transactions are recorded located on standard accounting principles and that proper internal control is maintained over the accounting functions. In addition, this job offer will review business/accounting policies and procedures in order to identify, recommend, and implement improvements. Essential tasks: » Responsible for accounting tasks in relation to the College's budget, including preparation of year-end schedules, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and review/reconciliation of various clearing accounts. » Supervise the Payroll and AP departments; create, implement and maintain policies, procedures and controls. » Support cash management/bank activity and prepare the cash flow forecasts and analysis. » Assist staff in assigning priorities to tasks and support continuing staff training and development. » Ensure work is accurate and processed in a timely manner, in conformity with College policies and procedures. » Collaborate effectively across departments. » Assist with compliance activities related to periodic state tax filings and surveys. » Prepare schedules for the organization's IRS Forms 990 and coordinate completion of tax forms with Bard's external audit firm. » Support NYS Unclaimed Funds and 1099 Processes. » Assist with maintenance and continued improvement of the College's ERP system. » Other tasks and projects as needed. Qualifications » Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or business administration required. » Minimum of seven years of progressive financial management practice in higher education or other non-profit setting. » Comprehensive familiarity and knowledge of GAAP. » Demonstrated practice with compiling financial statements and accounting for complex transactions. » High level of proficiency in analyzing financial transactions and reports for conformity with internal procedures and external regulations. » broad knowledge of internal controls, standards and comprehensive financial reporting. » Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations, and college financial policies and procedures. » Possesses the capability and practice to take the lead on compliance, internal controls, and financial efforts. » Strong organizational expertise and attention to detail. » capability to independently manage multiple deadlines and priorities with the highest degree of accuracy and efficiency. » Excellent written and interpersonal communication expertise and the capability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents. » Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership abilities, and creative problem solving. » Proficiency in administrative and PC computer applications, including the Microsoft suite (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.). » Banner practice preferred. » Strong work ethic and availability to work flexible hours to meet deadlines. » Commitment to the vision and mission of Bard.
