LecturerPosition Title: LecturerPosition tasks: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY invites applications for a Lecturer in the Interdisciplinary Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences (GSAS) program, the prosperous candidate will be primarily responsible for preparing and delivering courses. Specifically, the lecturer will perform the following tasks: •Teach courses within the Arts Department and Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences (GSAS) curriculum, with primary topic focus in game design, game programming, game development, and creative coding; • Advise undergraduate students within the Arts Department and Games and Simulation Arts and Sciences program; • Participate in Arts Department and GSAS program service functions; • Participate in Institute, School, Department and Program event organization and planning such as the annual GSAS Game Fest game development competition and review; and • Maintain active professional, scholarly, research, or creative work appropriate for the field and rank. The Lecturer will also teach following courses, among other courses: • GSAS 2510 - Introduction to Game Design: This course looks at the mathematics of game theory from a psychological perspective and serves as a primer in video game design. The psychology of players and designers are discussed, as well as the cognitive processes that people use when solving game-related puzzles. Additional topics include logic, human frailty, function playing, artificial intelligence, kinesics, theater, and human-computer interaction. • GSAS 2540 - Introduction to Game Programming: This hands-on class introduces many fundamental concepts in game development. Students will lgain to program multiple video games. Topics include render loops, rigid body dynamics, interfaces, event and messaging systems, and co-routines, General Requirements: Master's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
