Director- Library and Learning SupportExcelsior University is seeking our next Director of Library and Learning Support. We are pursuing candidates who are strong visionary leaders who will set the direction for the Excelsior University Library during this period of transformation in the field of library science. The Director is a motivator who encourages collaboration and cooperation with stakeholders to advance academic excellence, creative scholarship, educational affordcapability, student success, and access by incorporating open strategies including open access, open science, data, and publishing.Your focus is to mobilize expertise by providing learning support, instruction support and faculty support. You support diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the library and across the university. You will report to the Director of Learning Services. Excelsior University employees and dependents are offered a wide variety of benefits, including but not limited to, flexible work environment, health insurance benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off and educational benefits. this function is ideally located in Albany, NY or the surrounding areas, but remote candidates will be considered. tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES » Assist in building a culture centered on OER and Open Educational Practices at Excelsior University. » Leads a newly formed department that will advance the Excelsior University Library to develop sustainable digital collections. » Defines the strategic direction for the future development of library publishing, institutional repository services, and open and affordable content for the Excelsior University Library. » Establishes the mission and goals of the library to align with the university strategic initiatives. » Creates library goals and the metrics for continuous improvement. » Conducts regular assessments using metrics and stakeholder feedback to reveal the efficiency, effectiveness, and impact of current practices and use of available resources. » Manages the progress of library projects and initiatives. » Develops library procedures and administers the library in conformity with adopted policies. » Directs and participates in the overall operations of the library. » Manages the library budget. » Identifies and pursues external funding resources for library initiatives. » Collaborates with deans, administrators, and staff to develop faculty support services for OER implementation and textbook cost savings in compliance with state laws and regulations. » Coordinates the overall strategy to expand the use of open educational practices and affordable content with faculty, instructional designers, and staff in the course development process. » Prepares regular reports, including IPEDS and accreditation. » Plans, organizes, supervises, evaluates, and mentors the work of the library staff. » Develops, implements, and manages the outreach, programming, and instructional activities promoting library service to the Excelsior community. QUALIFICATIONS » Master’s degree from an ALA accredited institution in Library and Information Science or equivalent. » Minimum 4 years of professional academic library and administrative practice in quality assurance/practices and practice in one or more of the following areas: academic assessment services, research acquisition and evaluation, institutional research, design, and analysis, reference, and instructional services. » Familiarity and/or practice using technology, software, and publishing platforms. May include: EZproxy, Springshare, Pressbooks, and LibreText among many others. » consciousness of current and emerging trends, issues, standards, systems, and best practices in digital collections, institutional repositories, publishing production and platforms, open education, affordable course content with an skills in one of these areas. » Proven expertise and practice with copyright, open licenses, permissions, and compliance. » capability to excel in a changing university environment. » Strong competence with program and institutional accreditation data-gathering, analysis, and reporting. » Effective management and change leadership abilities skills. » Outstanding organizational skills, including attention to detail, time management, and capability to develop efficient workflows. » practice with relationship and community building as well as a strong service orientation. » Demonstrated skills in working with various internal and external constituencies Profil / Compétences:
