LifeguardPOSITION OVERVIEWLifeguard - Albany or Schenectady, NYStarting rate is $20 per hour!Ideal seasonal position with flexible schedule from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend. Daytime and early evening hours on weekdays and/or weekends. As a Lifeguard, you will provide rescue and lifesaving services, teach water safety and swim instruction to children and adolescents in program during the summer months, and help maintain our pools for optimal health and safety. You will report to the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and you will work onsite. Responsibilities: » Monitor and maintain order in the swimming pool area to prevent accidents » Rescue swimmers in danger of drowning, administering first aid » Inspect the swimming facilities at the beginning and end of each shift for cleanliness; monitor and record the chlorine content and pH level of the water » Provide students with continuing swimming instruction located on capability level » Hold students and staff accountable to the rules of the pool area and report any concerns with adherence of these rules to a Residential manager » Work in other areas of the recreational department during inclement weather Requirements and suitable education » Requires an Advance Life Saving certificate or equivalent (must be a certified Lifeguard) » Must be at least 18 years of age » practice working with children and adolescents and the capability to understand the basics of the therapeutic environment preferred Benefits » Sick Leave » EAP » 401 (K) plan » Free training/CEU opportunities About Northern RiversAt Northern Rivers Family of Services, we work together to make a difference in our client's lives.
