Manager Commercial Loan Review

Overview

Hudson Valley Credit Union is currently recruiting for the position of Manager Commercial Loan Review. Primary Function: directly supervise the commercial loan operations annual review function, to include assigning annual loan reviews, sign off on completed annual loan reviews and risk rating changes as well as superviseing tracking reports for annual loan reviews. Work in conjunction with the Commercial Portfolio Manager and other members of the Commercial Loan Originations team to ensure receipt of required financial information for loan reviews and compliance with loan covenants, to include preliminary discussions with legal counsel if default letters are required. Directly supervise commercial credit analysts who are dedicated to completing annual reviews, line renewals, balloon extensions and loan modifications. Directly supervise the training of new/less seasoned commercial credit analysts. Assist with internal and external audits and exams.
Responsibilities
   » Lead the commercial operations underwriting loan review function and all back-office aspects of the annual review process. To include assigning loan reviews and tracking annual review progress. Review completed annual reviews to ensure that they are comprehensive, complete, focused and reflect the appropriate risk rating. Approve any risk rating changes relating to the annual review. Ensure compliance with loan covenants and if loan covenants are not met, prepare waiver letters or work with legal counsel to prepare and issue default letters, as needed. supervise completion of annual review reporting for internal and external use, including Board reporting.
   » Manage the underwriting functions for commercial line of credit renewals, ballooning mortgages and modifications. To include assigning files for underwriting, reviewing credit presentations, ensuring appropriate approval authority is obtained and that credits requiring Loan Committee approval are circulated in a timely manner.
   » Directly supervise the commercial credit analysts assigned to complete annual reviews, line renewals, balloon extensions and loan modifications. To include interviewing, hiring, training, performance monitoring, employee reviews and development plans. Ensure the team possesses a high level of individual accountcapability for delivering results within attainable deadlines.  Closely monitor workflow and adjust as needed, while maintaining the integrity of the credit process and credit analysis. Track and report on commercial analyst productivity.
   » Provide onboarding and directly supervise the training for new commercial credit analysts/less seasoned commercial credit analysts.
   » In conjunction with the Commercial Portfolio Manager, prepare for and attend the monthly Watch List meetings, and provide updates as needed. Ensure completion of annual reviews for Watch List loans.
   » Maintain the quality control process of the assigned credit analysts to ensure that all credit presentations are accurate and in compliance with DFS and NCUA regulations as well a Credit Union policy and procedure.
   » Provide data needed for Credit Union, state, federal and third-party audits. Be a point person for DFS and NCUA exams, as needed. Act upon any audit or exam finding to improve processes and communicate these changes with staff and management.
   » Work with the Manager of Commercial Credit to achieve department goals and serve as each other’s backup, when required. Use lending authority to approve or decline loan requests, as needed.
   » Achieve goals assigned to the Commercial Loan Review Manager as part of the departments’ annual operating plan. To include initiating and implementing process improvements to enhance member practice and increase department
   » Adhere to all Credit Union policies, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements. Participate in all required and recommended training and development including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act training (BSA) and demonstrate attained expertise. Participate on Credit Union teams, projects and strategic initiatives when the opportunity arises. Perform additional tasks and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
   » Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field required
   » Minimum 5 Years in Direct commercial loan underwriting practice and advanced credit expertise in Commercial Real Estate transactions as well as Commercial & Industrial loans required
   » Minimum 2 Years managery or leadership abilities practice preferred
