Central Hudson is seeking adjunct Engineers to join our Gas Planning Engineering team. An adjunct Engineer performs engineering assignments related to the planning, scoping, design, construction, operation, maintenance, compliance, and performance of the company’s natural gas systems while factoring in safety, required codes and standards, innovation, and modernization. What does an adjunct Engineer – Gas Planning do? » Managing capital construction projects and programs » Developing gas system modernization plans and automation schemes » Enhancing and automating natural gas safety and compliance processes » Analyzing and optimizing inspection and maintenance of the gas transmission and distribution system » superviseing research and development projects to improve the efficiency and environmental footprint of the natural gas system » Developing and updating gas construction standards, pipe joining manuals, and operations and maintenance procedures » Designing and troubleshooting natural gas pipeline corrosion avoidance systems » Performing gas system simulations and models and developing solutions to enhance operations » Designing and managing construction of gas regulator stations and transmission facilities » Interfacing with Department of Public Service Staff regarding Central Hudson’s gas system activities » Providing support for storm and/or gas emergency restoration efforts What does it take to be an adjunct Engineer – Gas Planning? Required: » Bachelor’s degree in engineering » Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the capability to lgain new computer software programs quickly » Must be available to respond to gas emergencies outside of normal business hours as required » Must perform all tasks safely and design with safety in mind » Dedication to continuous improvement and initiative to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment » Flexibility to multitask and operate under pressure in a fast-paced work environment » Well-developed written/verbal communication expertise » Excellent problem-solving expertise, with innovation in mind » Strong analytical, organizational and quantitative expertise » Valid driver’s license Preferred: » Field of study in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering » expertise of and/or practice in the gas utility industry Applications will be accepted until July 16, 2024 this job offer has a career path which allows for advancement opportunities within a job series.
