Coordinator of International Student Services

The Coordinator of International Student Services is responsible for immigration administration and advising for F-1 and J-1 international students related to visas, visa-related benefits, travel, and maintaining legal status in the United States. The Coordinator will also issue immigration documents and, in collaboration with other staff, ensure compliance with government regulations, and is responsible for planning programming to support cultural adjustment and student engagement.

Position Purpose: The Coordinator of International Student Services is responsible for immigration administration and advising for F-1 and J-1 international students related to visas, visa-related benefits, travel, and maintaining legal status in the United States. The Coordinator will also issue immigration documents and, in collaboration with other staff, ensure compliance with government regulations, and is responsible for planning programming to support cultural adjustment and student engagement.

Essential tasks and Responsibilities:

Documentation and Compliance: Issues immigration documents and processes applications through the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). Maintains accurate records of international students' immigration documentation within SEVIS and College systems. Ensures compliance with federal regulations and College policies pertaining to international students. Guides students through new employee hiring processes for on-campus employment, including applying for a social security number. Works closely with Class Deans to ensure proper knowledge and application of regulations and policies, taking appropriate initiative and exercising discretion within the scope of assigned tasks.

Student Advising and Support: Advises and assists international students on a variety of matters including immigration and visa regulations and applications, cultural adjustment, personal matters, financial concerns, and College procedures. Helps students to access College resources. Conducts individual meetings with students to address any questions or concerns. Escalates student concerns to Class Deans, when appropriate.

Programming and Engagement: Collaborates with the Class Deans and campus partners to create programs for international students, including Global Orientation. Develops partnerships to offer intercultural, career, wellness, and social activities. Provides event logistical support, including space reservations, catering orders, and other coordination.

Administration: Maintains and updates policies and procedures. Produces departmental communications, including newsletters, website content, and student resources. Manages the department budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources. Actively participates in professional development on the federal regulations governing international students to ensure continuing compliance. Takes a proactive function in supporting fellow team members.

Qualifications required
   »
A Bachelor's degree and practice working in educational settings, preferably with international students in higher education, and/or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice.
   »
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident in order to serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and a Responsible agent (RO) as required by federal regulations.
   »
The capability to work evening and weekend hours is required, especially during Orientation and during other critical times during the academic year. May serve in an on-call capacity during peak travel times.

Compensation:
The annual income rate for this job offer is $60,405.80. Except for functions with a set rate of pay,
the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors,
including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education,
licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith
and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
