Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Regular full-time

Position Purpose: Under supervision of the Plumbing manager, the Plumber performs journey-level tasks and responsibilities, which include the installation, repairing, and maintenance of pipes, fixtures and connected equipment used to maintain the flow and drainage of water, air, and other gas systems in both commercial and residential applications.
Essential Responsibilities and tasks:
   »Plumbing System Maintenance and Installation: Performs routine inspections, maintenance, and projects on the college's plumbing systems, including fixtures, pipes, fittings, and other equipment to ensure optimal functioning and longevity. Installs, repairs, and upgrades plumbing components when necessary, ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety standards while considering sustaincapability and water conservation measures. Responds promptly to repair requests, troubleshoots issues, and addresses emergency plumbing problems such as leaks, blockages, or malfunctions to minimize disruptions to everyday College operations.
   »Inventory Management: Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and work orders for efficient tracking and future reference, using appropriate software or documentation systems. Monitors and manages inventory levels of plumbing supplies, equipment, and tools, ensuring that adequate stock is available for routine maintenance and repairs.
   »Compliance and Safety: Adheres to safety protocols, regulations, and significant building codes in all plumbing operations, ensuring a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff while also promoting sustainable and environmentally conscious practices.
   »Training and Team Support: Provides guidance and support to other maintenance personnel, assisting in their knowledge of basic plumbing principles and best practices to uphold overall system integrity and efficiency. Works with other departments, contractors, and outside agencies to help meet the needs of the College. Performs tasks outside their normal area of skills as needed. Participates in an on-call rotation with other team members. As needed, works holidays, weekends and overtime, determined by the needs of the College.
Qualifications required
   » High school diploma and two years of technical trade school in the appropriate field and/or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice. A valid Master Plumbing License in Albany, Schenectady, or Troy is preferred.
   » A valid New York State driver's license is required.
   » Must obtain proficient knowledge in water distribution and wastewater disposal in both commercial and residential applications.
   » Strong knowledge of the significant building codes, policies, and procedures pertaining to the installation and maintenance of equipment is required.
   » Must have the capability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, basic computer skills, and knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
   » capability to read and comprehend contract documents for installation of plumbing applications and provide feedback located on practice.
   » Must possess effective decisional, negotiating, and leadership abilities/mentoring skills.
   » capability to foster a team environment.
   » capability to participate in the rotation of on-call tasks, required.

Compensation
The rate for this job offer is $28.00-$32.00 per hour. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
