Listing description Information Technology Services (ITS) at the University at Albany seeks candidates for a Systems Administrator to support the academic, research, and business needs of this vibrant institution. The Systems Administrator will work as part of a group of IT professionals who play a key function in design, development, maintenance, and implementation of applications and infrastructure systems to provide secure and robust platforms. She/He/They will have exposure to physical and virtual environments, and on-premises and cloud-located applications. The Systems Administrator collaborates across ITS, providing input and skills for a range of services such as email, web, identity and access management, teaching and learning, and research and advanced computing. Main Responsibilities: » The Systems Administrator will provide day-to-day operational support for assigned systems including patching, upgrading, configuration management, system backups, continuous monitoring, and performance management. » Engage in the design and build of solutions that align with architectural norms, industry best practices, ITS standards, and meet project and operational requirements. » Develop and maintain build/configuration and operational procedures. » Actively seek and implement automations and systems that increase throughput and decrease operational expense. » Plan, design, build, implement, and support a growing array of cloud automation tools and services. » Maintain subject matter skills by staying current with industry trends and following a professional development plan. » Contribute to the development of architectural blueprints, templates, tools, system standards, and technical roadmaps. » Maintain security posture in conformity with industry best practice and ITS policies and procedures. Additional Responsibilities: » Effectively and proactively communicate with peers and management. » Be available to provide scheduled support and consultation outside normal business hours, including occasional evenings, holidays, or weekends, within reasonable professional obligation and expectation.
