Head Men's Soccer Coach

Union College, a highly selective liberal arts institution located in Schenectady, New York is accepting applications for the position of full time Head Men's Soccer Coach. The men's soccer program is a member of NCAA Division III and the Liberty League. Union College sponsors 26 intercollegiate sports, 24 in Division III, with Ice Hockey competing at Division I.

Head Men's Soccer Coach

Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular full-time
manager: Senior Associate Director of Athletics

Position purpose:Leads and manages the Union College's men's soccer program. This includes superviseing all aspects of team performance, recruitment, training, and compliance with college, Liberty League, and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations. Fosters an environment that emphasizes academic success, and athlete development.

Essential tasks and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include all head coaching aspects of a highly competitive Division III men's soccer program including but not limited to:
   »
Coaching and Training: Plans, conducts, and supervises everyday practices and training sessions. Develops and implements game strategies and tactics. Provides individual and team instruction, evaluating player performance and providing constructive feedback. Also provides game day preparation and leadership abilities.

Recruitment and Retention: Identifies, evaluates, and recruits prospective student-athletes who align with the college's values and academic standards. Develops and maintains relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and prospective student-athletes.
   »
Program Oversight and Administration: Adheres to NCAA rules and compliance. Manages the team budget including recruitment, equipment, travel, uniforms, and supplies. supervises team travel arrangements and scheduling. Recruits, hires, and supervises adjunct coaches.
   »
Team Development and Innovation: Contributes ideas, input, and support to the Union Athletics Department. Seeks out, applies, and shares knowledge of sport trends and innovations in playing and teaching.
   »
Collaboration and Fundraising: Partners with campus stakeholders, particularly College Relations, to coordinate fundraising and alumni outreach. Builds strong relationships with alumni, fans, campus partners and the broader community. Connects student-athletes with academic and professional resources.

Additional responsibilities include a secondary assignment

Qualifications required
   »
Bachelor's degree and five years of practice coaching soccer at the collegiate level or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice. Master's degree and playing practice at the collegiate level is preferred.
   »

Demonstrated recruitment of student-athletes.

Candidates must have an knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, along with a philosophy compatible with a liberal arts college with highly selective academic standards.

A valid New York State driver's license is required.

Compensation:
The annual income range for this job offer is $67,000 - $72,000. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
