Electrician (Licensed or Non-licensed)The Facilities Services Department at Union College is seeking a highly motivated, energetic, and team oriented individual to fill the position of Electrician (Licensed or Non-licensed) at its campus facilities. The qualified candidate will possess the Knowledge, expertise, and capability necessary to achieve organizational objectives through being both ethical and beneficial, while working in a diverse educational environment. The candidate, working under the Electrical manager, will perform journey-level tasks and responsibilities, which include the installation, repairing, and maintenance of all college owned electrical system and equipment.Electrician (Licensed or Non-Licensed) Work Days: Monday through Friday Shift Start/End Time: 7:30am-4:30pm Hours Per Week: 40 Weeks Per Year: 52 Pay Status and Classification:Regular full-time. This is a 12 - month position. manager: manager of Electrical Position Purpose: The candidate will perform journey level quality work, and is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all college owned electrical systems and equipment. Essential Responsibilities and tasks: »Operations: Meets the electrical needs of the campus community by performing work requests, emergencies, and special set-ups for faculty, staff and students. Works with various departments in order to achieve common goals and desires. tasks include: Ballast/driver, Switch/receptacle, and Breaker/Feeder replacements. »Maintenance: Performs and maintains functionality of equipment and systems, including: Emergency Lighting, Switchgear, Variable Frequency Drives, Motor Control Centers, Transformers, and Battery back-up systems. Conducts monthly preventive maintenance in order to minimize equipment downtime. »Projects: Plans and lays out work accordingly with knowledge and knowledge of reading blue prints. Collaborates with team members on finding the best approach while leading to set an example. Lighting retrofits, additional circuitry, EV Charger installations, and feeder upgrades are some of the in-house team projects. »Trouble-Shooting: Identifying and finding solutions when circumstances arise in order to maintain a 24/7 power generating facility. capability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, diagnosis motor and motor control failures, and capacity to grow and develop expertise through hands on training Qualifications required » High school diploma, two-year technical trade school, or apprenticeship program, and/or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice. » Five years as a Journeyman Electrician, practice in residential, commercial, and industrial applications. » Valid Commercial Electrician's License (Preferred in Schenectady, Albany, or Troy). » Must have good communication and interpersonal expertise. » Computer expertise including (Word, Excel, and Adobe). » Knowledge of medium voltage three phase systems (13.2KV), WYE/DELTA and low voltage systems (24, 120, 208, 277, and 480v). » Available for round-the-clock emergency response both on and off campus. » Strong knowledge and application of the National Electrical Code, NFPA, and OSHA standards on electrical and work safety procedures. Compensation: The rate for this job offer is $22.00 - $30.00 an hour. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
