Teacher In Training

JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Teacher in Training, you will be responsible for development of classroom instructional plans for students and support student's success in academic and behavioral goals. You will report to the Principal and work on-site.
Responsibilities:
   » Develop and implement a classroom instructional plan located on a students IEP and grade and subject area curricula; work with content area teachers to ensure that their lessons are differentiated as to meet the needs of all students.
   » Develop and implement Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs) for all students on their caseload. Ensure that accommodations and modifications are provided. Provide specially designed instruction and monitor student progress toward academic and behavioral goals. Complete progress reports and IEP updates, and participate in CSE meetings as scheduled.
   » Develop and coordinate the implementation of individual and classroom behavior plans for managing student behavior to maintain discipline in the classroom; supervise the collecting of behavior data; assist classroom staff with crisis avoidance and intervention techniques; assist classroom staff with de-escalation techniques; teach students appropriate behavior strategies.
   » Manage and model the implementation of classroom PBIS universal components and Tier 2 and 3 strategies for selected students.
   » Schedule and supervise teacher adjuncts as they assist students in multiple non-instructional environments.
   » Provide leadership abilities to assigned teacher adjuncts in the various clerical and non-instructional tasks for your classroom.
   » Work collaboratively with other teachers, clinicians, administrators, medical staff and other school staff to provide integrated support, assistance, and treatment to students.
Requirements and suitable education
   » Bachelor's degree and/or New York State Certification as a Teacher adjunct.
   » 2 years practice working with students in an educational setting.
   » Certification/Licensure in progress for a Special Education Teacher.
