adjunct Professor of Mathematics

Union College invites applications for the position of adjunct Professor of Mathematics, beginning September 1, 2025. Applications received by November 18, 2025 will receive full consideration.

Position Description
The position is open to candidates from all fields of mathematics who will have a Ph.D. in mathematics or applied mathematics by August 31, 2025. candidates should possess strong teaching credentials in undergraduate mathematics and a record of scholarly achievement that indicates a commitment to continuing research. Postdoctoral practice is welcome/preferred.

At Union College, we prioritize a balance between teaching and research, and candidates should demonstrate excellence in both areas. The prosperous candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of undergraduate mathematics courses, mentoring students in their academic pursuits, and maintaining an active research program. this function supports the liberal arts tradition of the College and our mission to foster a diverse and equitable academic community. The teaching load is two courses per trimester.

About the Department of Mathematics
The is dedicated to helping students develop the capability to reason logically, understand abstract concepts, and solve complex problems, and to equip them with the expertise needed for advanced studies in mathematics. In addition to our own programs in mathematics, statistics, and financial and actuarial mathematics, our curriculum supports the College's academic offerings in the arts, humanities, natural and social sciences, engineering, and interdisciplinary studies.

Composed of sixteen full-time faculty members, our department takes great pride in its commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarly activity. Our faculty engage in research across , contributing to both academic expertise and student learning.

Compensation
The annual income range for this job offer is $81,500-$83,500. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
