Job Summary The Network Security Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership abilities and oversight for complex, enterprise-wide services including the design, development and maintenance of campus security network infrastructure. The network security engineer is involved in all aspects of network security from detecting, tracking, identifying, collecting evidence & resolving break-ins, virus/worm infections, and campus hacking. In addition, the Network Security Engineer leads complex projects that often include individuals from different departments or portfolios and leadership abilities. this job offer collaborates closely with other technical and IT leadership abilities positions providing high-level guidance, mentoring and training including helping to develop other technical employees. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and six (6) years significant professional work practice including formal training in information technology and network security. A significant combination of education, training and professional work practice may be substituted for a degree. Preferred Qualifications Minimum expertise, expertise, and Abilities • Familiarity with TCP/IP protocols, services and attack and defense methods. • Familiarity with SANS, CERT and other industry best-practice organizations. • Familiarity with firewall, VPN, IDS/IPS, and SIEM technologies. • Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting expertise. • Network design following security best-practice guidelines. • Traffic analysis pertaining to network attacks and mitigation. • capability to provide training to all levels. • capability to work effectively under pressure and meet goals and deadlines. • capability to lgain quickly and troubleshoot complex problems. • capability to diagnose hardware and software problems. • capability to communicate and cooperate effectively with colleagues and users in a diverse environment. • capability to work both independently and as a team member. Shift Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required TravelLocal travel between campus locations only Driving Incidental driving possible, but not required Starting income/Rate Expected hiring range: $85,000 - $95,000 Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials.
