Teaching responsibilities will be in introductory and organic chemistry courses and labs, with additional teaching responsibilities depending on area(s) of skills. The College has new and growing initiatives in environmental science and engineering and biomedical engineering; candidates contributing to one of these areas through work in Green Chemistry, Environmental Organic Chemistry, or Polymer Chemistry are especially welcome. this job offer involves teaching, on average, two courses in each of three trimesters. It is expected that the prosperous hire will establish and maintain a high-quality research program that involves undergraduate students and enhances the synergy between the chemistry department and other science and engineering departments. About the : The new hire will expand our department from twelve to thirteen permanent faculty members with support from one administrative adjunct and one laboratory specialist. One faculty member also serves as the department's dedicated instrumentation specialist. Annually, about 15-25 students graduate with a degree in chemistry or biochemistry, and about 11% of the students on campus take introductory chemistry courses. Our department has a strong collegial culture; we collaborate to continue to innovate and improve our approaches to teaching and scholarship in an undergraduate liberal arts with engineering setting. We have offices and research spaces in several science and engineering buildings, the most recent of which - the Integrated Science and Engineering Center - completed in 2020.
