Head of Resource Management/Associate Librarian

The Head of Resource Management provides leadership abilities and management for the acquisitions of all materials, including providing access to holdings via the library's discovery tools and expertise base. They develop and manage the acquisitions budget in consultation and collaboration with the College Librarian and the Head of Collection Development.

The Head of Resource Management provides leadership abilities and management for the acquisitions of all materials, including providing access to holdings via the library's discovery tools and expertise base. They develop and manage the acquisitions budget in consultation and collaboration with the College Librarian and the Head of Collection Development, and they supervise acquisitions, continuations, and finance staff in the Resource Management unit. The incumbent participates in library-wide services and projects, such as instruction, workshops, and events for the diverse Union community.

Responsibilities
   »
Organize and maintain access to the library's print, electronic, streaming, and continuing resources in all formats using a variety of platforms, including the library's electronic resource management systems, expertise base, Library Services Platform, and user-facing discovery tools (Primo, LibGuides database A-Z list).
   »
Manage workflows and staff for the acquisition and financial workflows necessary to maintain a robust library collection in all formats.
   »
Manage and supervise the acquisitions process (purchasing, receiving/activation, and invoicing) of library materials in all formats and supervise the maintenance of order records in the library services platform and other local files.
   »
Maintain coverage files and troubleshoot access and authentication issues.
   »
Ensure timely follow-through on purchase, renewal, withdrawal, and cancellation decisions; monitor and approve bill payments; anticipate annual budget expenditures and monitor expenses for collections.
   »
Manage and provide bibliographic, contact, financial, license, and other administrative information for individual purchases and continued commitments; compile and generate usage, financial, and other business reports.
   »
Maintain and apply expertise of the publishing environment and information management trends to the development and continuous improvement of processing workflows.
   »
Contribute to discussions of selections, consortial arrangements, license reviews, and vendor negotiations.
   »
Maintain skills in the library services platform and serve as in-house reference for workflow creation and improvements.
   »
Contribute actively to the discussion and planning for all aspects of Content & Digital Library Systems and the library's service to the diverse Union community, outside library users, and visiting researchers; contribute to, and provide leadership abilities in, various departmental and library-wide committees and working groups.
   »
Participate in the overall development of Content & Digital Library Systems efforts to provide effective, timely, and significant support for undergraduate research.
   »
Collaborate with colleagues within the library and across campus; build significant connections with faculty, all over the profession, and in the wider research community.
   »
Pursue a program of professional development, scholarly activity, and service as described in the College's criteria for promotion and retention.
   »

Qualifications
   »
Master's degree in library or information science from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited program and/or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice.
   »
Minimum five years' professional practice managing library print and electronic resources required, preferably in an academic environment.
   »
Demonstrated expertise and mastery of key expertise competencies in next-generation integrated library systems or library services platforms, such as ProQuest/ExLibris's Alma Administration Certification.
   »
Proficiency with spreadsheet and/or database software required, preferably Microsoft Excel.
   »
Minimum three years managery practice required, preferably in an academic environment.
   »

Evidence of leadership abilities in the fields of content access and resource management, including demonstrated effective management, planning, and organizational skills.

Demonstrated skills in planning, project management, implementing and assessing programs and services.
