An Energy Resources Analyst is proficient in accounting practices specific to natural gas and electric supply procurement and processes natural gas and electric supply invoices, reconciles volumes and prices, resolves billing discrepancies, and prepares financial reports. The Analyst interacts internally with energy buyers, cost & rate, and various accounting teams, and externally with supplier, marketer, and ESCO analysts and the NYISO. The Analyst participates in the NYISO billing process and is an administrator for the Gas Tracking System (GTS) or Integrated Energy Accounting (IEA) System. What does an Energy Resources Analyst do? » Prepares analyses, estimates, and budget projections for natural gas and electric supplies » Prepares analyses, estimates, and projections of the cost to supply the Company's wholesale natural gas and electric commodity purchases to meet supply requirements » Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for Central Hudson, Fortis, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), New York State Public Service Commission (PSC), and Energy Information Administration (EIA) » Organizes and verifies supply invoice volumes and costs » Organizes and tracks commodity, capacity, transportation, and storage contracts » Reconciles interstate pipeline bulletin board to invoice, storage activity, and gas management services or other supplier vendor invoices » Interacts with the NYISO billing system and files, verifies electric load, and metering on a daily/monthly basis, and participates in the NYISO billing & accounting working group » Supports and serves as the Gas Tracking System (GTS) administrator and project manager » Supports and serves as the Integrated Energy Accounting (IEA) administrator » Supports storm/emergency restoration efforts What does it take to be an Energy Resources Analyst? Required: » Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Math, Accounting or other analytical discipline. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associates degree in the aforementioned fields of study and at least 5 years of work practice in the energy commodity field or an analytical utility function. » Strong computer expertise including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Excel; capability to lgain new computer software programs quickly » Well-developed written and verbal communication expertise » Strong interpersonal expertise and the capability to work collaboratively in a team environment » Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, quantitative and strategic thinking expertise » Demonstrated capability to multitask and develop and implement creative, innovative solutions » capability to work in a deadline-oriented, fast paced environment » Must be customer-focused, self-motivated and possess strong decision making and critical thinking expertise » Valid driver’s license Preferred: » Master’s degree in the fields mentioned above » practice in the regulated electric and/or gas utility industry within the energy commodity field » practice participating in utility industry policy working groups » practice with volume and price reconciliation analysis, accounts payable/receivable, and rate design » Working expertise of statistical and regression analysis to support full-service customer commodity business decisions » High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel’s advanced functions Applications will be accepted until November 14, 2023. this job offer has a career path which allows for advancement opportunities within a job series.
