Academic EvaluatorThe Academic Evaluator (AE) contributes to student success by collaborating with academic advisors and college department chairs to support students as they work to reach their educational goals. The AE’s primary responsibility is the accurate and timely evaluation of educational practices from various postsecondary sources, ensuring its most efficient use toward the completion of degree requirements. The AE serves as a valuable resource to students, staff, and faculty in determining appropriate interpretation and application of university policies and procedures as they relate to transfer credit.AE candidates must demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication and customer service to internal and external stakeholders; have a solid knowledge of program curriculum and its effect on graduation; be able to effectively work in a team environment; have a commitment to providing quality service through the assimilation of a large body of information; and demonstrate considerable judgment, accuracy, consistency, critical thinking, and strong analytical expertise. AEs must represent Excelsior within the worldwide academic community in a professional manner. This full time position with benefits reports to the Director of Academic Evaluation within the Registrar's Office. Evening and weekend hours may be necessary for this job offer. This is a full-time hybrid function with a minimum of two required days at Excelsior's home office of 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY, with the remainder of the days worked in the house. tasks and Responsibilities: » Evaluate sources of credit such as college/military transcripts, international evaluation reports, documentation of experiential learning, professional certifications for accreditation, appliccapability toward degree requirements, and duplication per university policies using the student information system and evaluation procedures. » Review and analyze course descriptions and syllabi, college catalogs, and other documents to evaluate and apply credits to degree requirements. » Participate in the maintenance of the evaluation resource repository. » Prepare the official academic plan document with internal and external sources of credit and ensure they are communicated to stakeholders. This includes the initial evaluation, on-going degree progress reviews and continuous evaluation updates. » Provide outstanding internal and external customer service to academic advisors, admissions counselors, and students to clarify evaluation results. » Work collaboratively to serve students by navigating a variety of topics including: curricular issues; course equivalency and appliccapability towards programs; credit related appeals and the application of university policies. Collaborators will include academic advisors, admissions counselors, faculty, students, etc. » Work independently and interact effectively and cooperatively with team members and other university staff to assure quality. » Maintain currency regarding institutional information, admissions requirements, new programs, course changes, policies, deadlines, milestones and goals, important dates, costs, university-wide initiatives, transfer requirements, and state and federal mandates. » Actively participate in professional development by serving on university committees and meetings, completing special projects, participating in training activities, submitting conference proposals and papers, participating in staff training, and maintaining competency in the use of technology. » Other tasks as assigned. Preferred Qualifications required » Previous practice in higher education preferred. The hiring income range for this job offer is $48,000.00 - $51,000.00.
