Job Summary The Public Safety Communications Specialist is responsible for monitoring, responding, and taking appropriate actions for incoming calls for service; process emergency and non-emergency communications, multi-agency radio communications, and provide documentation for these incidents in support of Public Safety operations. this job offer also serves as the focal point for all Institute communications outside normal business hours. Candidates must be available for flexible shift scheduling within the Department of Public Safety's 24/7 environment. Minimum Qualifications • H.S. Diploma or equivalent • Three (3) years of customer service practice • Must have the capability to obtain and maintain a NYS Security Guard License • Subject to criminal history check, background investigation and physical examination significant combinations of education, training and practice may be considered. Preferred Qualifications » Some College/University (example - 30 college credits » practice in a dispatching/call center function Preferred expertise, Skill, and Abilities None Shift Public Safety: Must be available for flexible shift scheduling TravelLocal travel between campus locations only Driving Driving a Rensselaer vehicle for non-passenger use Starting income/Rate Expected hiring range: $20.00 per hour Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials.
