Listing description Responsibilities: The operation of a computerized energy system and the maintenance and repair of automatic temperature control systems, absorption chillers, compressors, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment and mechanical heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment. Work is performed under general supervision and supervision may be exercised over assigned personnel. Does related work as required. This is a full-time, 12 month position in our CSEA bargaining unit, Civil Service (Competitive) Permanent Appointment. The nature of the appointment is provisional pending the outcome of a Civil Service Examination. Civil Service examination will be announced at a later date. Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:00AM - 3:00PM (35 hours per week - one hour unpaid lunch). Current County CSEA employees retain existing paid hours. General Requirements: practice Required : Four (4) years of practice in the maintenance of commercial or industrial heating, air conditioning and ventilating systems. Education beyond High School at a regionally accredited College or Technical/Trade School or the Armed Forces in a degree/program concentration in heating, air conditioning, ventilation and/or refrigeration may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the required practice on a year-for-year basis. Special Requirement: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. practice Preferred: Thorough expertise of the operation of a computerized energy system and the maintenance and repair of automatic temperature control systems, absorption chillers, cooling towers, refrigeration equipment and mechanical HVAC equipment; capability to act quickly and efficiently in the event of a mechanical failure; capability to follow oral and written instructions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
