LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS SERVICES SPECIALIST

Work Days: Monday-Friday
Shift Start/End Time: 8:00 am - 4:54 pm

Learning Environment Support Specialist
Pay Status and Classification: Non-exempt, Regular Full-Time
manager: Manager of Learning Environments and Event Support
Position Purpose: Provides day-to-day office administration of a wide variety of services and support needs for the campus community, including managing work orders for learning environment (LE) services and Tier I support of technologies within electronic classrooms and other Union facilities, as well as audio-visual (A/V) support for academic classes and special events.
Essential Responsibilities and tasks:
   »Campus-Wide Support: Provides Tier I support for campus-wide sound and video projection systems, electronic classrooms, and other facilities. Performs basic computer troubleshooting. Reinstalls operating systems and applications. Set up computers in classrooms and labs. Coordinates delivery, setup, operation and retrieval of equipment for various locations on campus.
   »Collaboration: Trains faculty/staff who need to use AV equipment. Works with clients to best determine support needs and to provide those needs for individual events, classes, etc. Coordinates with the Office of Special Events and Conferences to provide A/V equipment and planning for special events. Works with outside vendors to provide services for campus special events. Assists with training and prosperous execution of video/web conferences.
   »Inventory and Equipment: Maintains inventory and organization of all A/V, computer equipment and peripherals, including a hardware database and asset management. Manages the general maintenance, documentation, and regular inspection of electronic classrooms and other facilities. Replaces lamp modules in projectors; swap out A/V equipment in locations across campus. Manages and distributes digital media including audio and video recording for events and speakers, dubbing, editing, and posting online.
   »Administration: Assists with audio and video recording of live events, with a knowledge of video editing software applications. Selects, trains, and supervises student workers on operation and support of A/V equipment and technology use in electronic classrooms and LE office procedures. Offers to assist colleagues during crunch times and overlapping deliverables. Works on special projects and College committees, as assigned.
Qualifications required
   » Associate's degree in information systems, computer science, or other related field of study, and a minimum of 6 months hands-on practice with audio, video and projection systems; and/or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice.
   » capability to work a flexible schedule to assist with event A/V needs including evenings and weekends when necessary
   » Exceptional written and verbal communication expertise. capability to listen actively and seek to clarify and confirm accuracy of knowledge.
   » Knowledge of Windows and Apple operating systems.
   » capability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment with a variety of people and disciplines.
   » capability to troubleshoot software systems to identify and resolve problems, restore service, and/or assure system integrity.
   » capability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
   » Able to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community of students, alumni, faculty, and fellow staff colleagues.
   » The capability to foster and enhance a thriving, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community, while promoting a sense of belonging among students, alumni, faculty, and staff colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications required
   » Familiarity with audio, video, and other multimedia technology.
   » Proficiency with A/V and connected equipment (such as Crestron control systems).
   » Knowledge of higher education IT infrastructure, audio-visual technology, operations and services.
   » practice working with ticketing systems (such as TeamDynamix.)
   » knowledge of networks and printers.
   » Professional practice managing and working with student employees.

Compensation
The rate for this job offer is $19.00 - $20.00 per hour. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
