Early Head Start TeacherPOSITION OVERVIEWEarly Head Start TeacherSchenectady, NY $2,500 Sign On Bonus POSITION SUMMARY To provide a safe, clean, nurturing environment for children. ESSENTIAL tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES » Provide a balance of open-ended exploration, teacher guided inquiry, structured activities, and sensory-located play; fostering childrens curiosity, engagement, reasoning, and problem-solving » Provide and maintain a safe, clean, nurturing environment in every classroom and parent room by establishing a tone that is comforting, strengths-located and supportive of every childs and parents feelings. » Demonstrate respect for families values, strengths, and culture by welcoming their contributions and participation, encouraging children to talk about their families, and designing learning practices accordingly. » Foster teacher-child and child-child communication intentionally by facilitating mutual sharing and authentic exchange of ideas, thoughts and feelings. » Support the goals of the curriculum by planning and establishing distinct and child-accessible learning centers and changing material intentionally. » Monitor childrens progress per the goals developed by parents, self, and other staff and specialists, including those in IFSPs and IEPs by observing and documenting childrens play, conversations, routines/schedules, and work samples and through conversations with families. » Demonstrate respect for others by sharing information objectively and non-judgmentally and adjusting verbal and written communication strategies for different audiences. » Support other staff if assigned and demonstrate effective support expertise by the capability to provide directions, work as a part of a team, and assuring the completion of records, attendance reports, as required. » Use information about children obtained through home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and other parent-staff interactions by incorporating this data into everyday routines and interactions with children. » Participate in staff training according to program staff training plan and policies. » Report any suspected injuries immediately. » Assist with the planning and use of community resources to enrich the learning environment of enrolled children. » Maintain and model punctuality in all interactions with children, parents, team members and community volunteers. » Interact positively with and provide choices to children during meal and nap times. » supervise and assist with classroom cleanup and follow universal precautions daily. » Assist staff in safely exiting children from Center during fire drills and any hazardous situations. » Adhere to agency and program standards regarding children and families confidentiality and maintain appropriate professional boundaries. » Lift up to 35 pounds. EDUCATION and/or practice » Associates degree in Early Childhood Education preferred » 2 years practice working with infants or toddlers CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE » Child Development Associate (CDA) ABOUT NORTHERN RIVERSSkills:
