Mental Health Training Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Mental Health Training Specialist
As a residential mental health training specialist, you will work to meet the training needs of the Residential Treatment Facility. You will work directly with the program administration to provide necessary trainings, as well as monitor compliance in training requirements. You will manage the scheduling and provision of mandated internal offerings including but not limited to Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and 1st aid/CPR. You will also work as a member of the Sidney Albert Training and Research team to design curriculum, develop training, and provide training to internal professionals as well as those individuals served by external contracts executed by the Institute. These contracts may be with various departments within the State of New York, School Districts, Human Service Agencies or community-located entities. You will report to the Director of SATRI and will work onsite.
Responsibilities:
   » Deliver curricula including supporting educational materials as assigned.
   » Design, develop, research, and write curricula specific to the needs of the residential RTF program staff.
   » Regularly visit the residential facility to actively assess the training needs of the staff, located on your observation of the milieu.
   » Assure necessary staff are trained in the appropriate systems to adequately perform the reporting tasks related to their functions.
   » Implement adult-professional training programs.
   » Prepare all written reports, maintain records, and issue certificates of attendance.
   » Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with Agency colleagues and engage in diversity, constructive communication both within and outside of the Agency.
   » Assume training responsibilities as assigned.
   » Participate in annual program performance evaluation.
   » Manage the provision of internal training offerings for the residential treatment facility such as TCI and 1st Aid/CPR, etc.
   » Manage the training records and assure compliance of staff of working in the residential treatment facility.
Requirements and suitable education
   » Bachelor's degree or at least 3 years' practice with a residential treatment system. Master's degree and the capability to provide continuing education training for LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, and LMHC staff is preferred.
   » Must have valid NYS driver's license.
   » Teaching/training or public speaking practice required.
   » Must have proven capability to design, develop, research, write curricula, and implement adult-professional training programs.
   » Must have content expertise, presentation expertise, and expertise sufficient to teach effectively on a variety of clinical subject areas, treatment and intervention, childhood development, child and adolescent behavioral disorders, management, supervision and leadership abilities issues, and crisis and de-escalation techniques. expertise of OMH children's programming preferred.
   » Computer expertise include PowerPoint, use of a virtual classroom, and various data management systems preferred.
   » Mental health and child welfare practice is preferred.
   » Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
