Job Summary The BioResearch Technician will perform all tasks related to the day-to-day operation of the animal research facility which include animal care and husbandry and facility sanitization and maintenance. The BioResearch Technician also will support basic research procedures, as directed by the Operations Manager. Weekend and holiday rotation is required. Minimum Qualifications High School/Equivalent and at least two (2) years of significant practice with laboratory rodent husbandry including sanitizing rooms and equipment. candidates must meet stated minimum education and practice requirements. Preferred Qualifications » AVMA accredited associates degree in Veterinary Technology or Laboratory Animal Science » AALAS certification » practice working in a scientific or research environment » practice with anesthesia procedures or surgery » practice with management of transgenic animal lines Minimum expertise, expertise, and Abilities » Basic expertise of research animal biology, husbandry and health » Basic expertise of federal regulations regarding animal maintenance and handling » expertise of the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (?the Guide?) » capability to keep accurate records and prepare reports as mandated by the Animal Welfare Act and ?the Guide? » capability to make careful observation and objective assessment » expertise of basic animal research procedures » capability to work cooperatively with manager, faculty, technicians, animal care workers, inspectors and veterinarians » Excellent interpersonal expertise; the capability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing » capability to work well in a team environment » capability to anticipate and solve problems » capability to work independently Shift Non Standard Shift Application instructions Follow the on-screen prompts to create a brief online profile.
