Senior Academic Web Applications DeveloperThe Senior Instructional Applications Developer plays a crucial function in designing, developing, and maintaining innovative and transformative educational software applications that facilitate learning and enhance the educational practice for learners and educators.candidates should have the skills and skills to work on both the front-end and back-end development of web applications and possess a broad knowledge of various technologies and frameworks required to build and maintain complete software solutions. Be prepared to work with creative teams on all design aspects of application development, including wireframing, rapid prototyping, technical documentation, and uscapability testing. A cover letter and link to your portfolio/samples are required. this job offer is located out of the university’s home office in Albany, NY with the option of considering remote candidates. Remote employees will have mandatory occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Remote employees are expected to be available during work hours 8:30am – 5:00pm Eastern time. The University will supply necessary equipment to execute the essential functions of this job (e.g., laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise. tasks and Responsibilities • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to define and implement innovative solutions. • Develop and maintain web applications, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and scalcapability. • Write well-designed, clean, and efficient code using appropriate technologies. • Convert project requirements and high-fidelity mockups into functional prototypes. • Maintain, modify, and upgrade software following deployment using agile development principles. • Build user interfaces and practices that are intuitive and visually appealing. • Write technical and support documentation and handbooks that depict application design, usage, and implementation. • Collaborate with team members on code reviews, project planning, and brainstorming sessions. • Troubleshoot and debug production issues, providing timely resolutions. • Evaluate existing applications, add new features, reprogram them if necessary, or complete updates. • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends and apply them to current and future projects. Qualifications » Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer programming, or equivalent. » Must have at least two years of practice working in an iterative software-development methodology. » Must have at least two years of practice applying UX best practices to web-located application development. » capability to work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments. » Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with faculty, students, and production team members. » Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. » capability to clarify and work through complex, ill-defined problems that involve multiple stakeholders and systems. » practice creating accessible web applications following Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA). » Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies. » knowledge of web architecture, including HTTP, RESTful APIs, and web security best practices. » practice with AR software development kits (SDKs), such as Vuforia, ARCore, and ARKit. Preferred Qualifications » Proficiency in back-end technologies such as Node.js, Python, Ruby, or Java. » Strong proficiency with modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js. » practice with server-side frameworks like Express.js, Flask, Ruby on Rails, or Spring. » Familiarity with database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Oracle, and proficiency in writing efficient queries. » practice with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and deployment tools is a plus. » Familiarity with mobile app development or DevOps practices is an advantage. » Preferred Master's degree.
