Athletics at Rensselaer is home to 23 NCAA athletic teams (12 men's and 11 women's) including Division I men's and women's ice hockey, athletic compliance, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Job Summary
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is in Troy, New York. The position may have the opportunity for a hybrid working arrangement (a combination of on- and off-site).
The Major Gift agent will work cooperatively and collegially with members of the Institute's Central Advancement Office to effectively build prosperous fundraising programs for the Athletics Department. The Major Gift agent will lead on behalf of and support the Director of Athletics on matters pertaining to Athletics Department project fundraising. Additionally, the Major Gift agent will carry a portfolio of approximately 125 major gift prospects who have the capacity to make gifts in the range of $100,000 to $2.49 million.
The Major Gift agent, Athletics will
   » raise new commitments from prospects capable of making gifts of $100,000 to $2.49 million;
   » prepare and submit proposals and conduct face-to-face prospecting and cultivation visits;
   » create compelling cases for support;
   » manage the Director of Athletics' involvement in the cultivation and solicitation of top prospects for philanthropic support while planning, directing, and implementing activities required to secure the Athletic Department's fundraising goal;
   » direct the involvement of members of the Athletic Department staff and leadership abilities Council in fundraising activities for the department;
   » identify additional potential donors for the department and coordinate their cultivation and solicitation through the Central Advancement Office, working cooperatively with Central Advancement staff to develop a comprehensive operational plan in the areas of annual giving, corporate and foundation philanthropy, planned giving, and alumni engagement;
   » actively participate and present in prospect strategy sessions;
   » attend athletic events to cultivate relationships with donors in attendance; and
   » be responsible for annual goals in line with those of a Major Gift agent.

   » an capability to demonstrate an knowledge of Rensselaer and its major initiatives;
   » an capability to multi-task, while handling multiple projects and deadlines; and

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will consider candidates with a broad range of backgrounds. A bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and practice and at least five years of progressively responsible fundraising practice.

Total Compensation and Benefits Information
The hiring range for this job offer is $100,000 to $125,000 annually. Rensselaer provides this hiring range as a good faith estimate of what the starting pay will be offered to the prosperous candidate.
