Job Summary The Registered Nurse uses their expertise to conduct health and behavioral assessments, make referrals, and advise students in a developmentally appropriate manner. The Registered Nurse will facilitate the organization and operation of the outpatient program at the Student Health Center to include initial contact, obtaining vital signs and coordinating patient flow. As a part of the Division of Student Life, the Student Health Center uses the (CLASS)- Clustered Learning, Advocacy, and Support for Students model for student interactions. CLASS is a comprehensive approach to the student practice at Rensselaer. Through continuing support, guidance, and co-curricular activities, CLASS connects students to a network of faculty, staff, and other students, ensuring that they are part of a strong community of learners. As students strive to become the leaders of tomorrow, CLASS helps them develop the intellectual agility, multicultural sophistication, and global consciousness that will enable them to change the world. Minimum Qualifications » Associates Degree in Nursing from an accredited program » New York State licensed RN » Three (3) years practice in an emergency medicine, ambulatory care, family practice or other busy outpatient setting is required » practice with young adults/adolescents is required. » BLS certified candidates must meet stated minimum education and practice requirements. Preferred Qualifications » practice in a college health setting is desirable » practice providing care to culturally diverse populations » Fluent in Mandarin Minimum expertise, expertise, and Abilities » Strong clinical nursing expertise, including patient assessments and interventions » expertise of nursing care principles, procedures, and the impact of culture on health care provision » capability to provide patient education » capability to communicate clearly and calmly with patients » capability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members » capability to work under periods of intense stress and fluctuations in workload » Strong critical thinking and multitasking expertise » capability to respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations such as calling 911 and arranging for ambulance » Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion Shift Business Hours: Monday - Friday, days TravelNo travel Driving No Driving Application instructions Follow the on-screen prompts to create a brief online profile.
