Listing description adjunct Athletic Trainer The adjunct Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the head athletic trainer and supervises the care of the student-athletes competing in The College of Saint Rose athletic program. The adjunct athletic trainer is responsible for the avoidance, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries within the College's comprehensive athletic training program. RESPONSIBILITIES: » Onsite care and management of injuries and illnesses including: avoidance, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of over 300 student athletes. » Assess risk of injury, perform ergonomic evaluation and coaching, self-care implementation and overall wellness promotion. » Submit electronic documentation for all patient encounters. » Coordinate and implement injury avoidance programs and customized preventative strategies and programs to each patient. » Minimize risk of injury through consciousness, education and avoidance strategies. » Provide sport-specific accommodation recommendations for student athletes with restrictions or limitations. » Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding the injury status of athletes. » Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures. » Assist with management of hosting NE10 and NCAA events. » Actively participate in Athletic Department meetings, support department-wide and special events. » Assist with new employee searches. » Serve on department or campus wide committees. » Other tasks as assigned by adjunct AD for Sports Medicine. General Requirements: General Requirements: » Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree preferred » Minimum of two years' work practice in intercollegiate athletics or related field » expertise of a large range of medical problems. » Assessment, evaluation expertise and capability to work effectively with other healthcare professionals » capability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines » Attention to detail with injury tracking and documentation » capability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families » capability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision » Intermediate level computer expertise using a Windows located operating system, specifically MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet » capability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays SPECIAL CERTIFICATES/LICENSES REQUIRED: » Must be BOC certified » Certified by NYSED office of the professions or eligible to be certified » NPI Number or in the process of obtaining one » Current Emergency Cardiac Care » Valid driver's license PHYSICAL General Requirements: » Lifting 70 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects » Able to work in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time » Able to sit or stand for long periods at a time Additional Information: This is a full-time, 10-month a year position (August-May).
