We offer an excellent income, benefits and perks.Job Details Job Job location: Woodland Pond Inc - New Paltz, NY Employment type: Full Time income Range: $76,638.12 - $86,638.12 income Job Shift: Day Job Job Category: Health Care DescriptionResponsible to Position Classifications Director of Resident Services Salaried/Exempt Directly Supervises and Evaluates None Is Back Up To: N/A Is Backed Up By: Director of Resident Services WOODLAND POND CONFORMANCE STATEMENT In the performance of their respective tasks and responsibilities all employees are expected to conform to the following: Performing quality work with or without direct supervision Interacting professionally with other employees, residents, guests, and all others Working effectively and in conformity with the Woodland Pond Communication Fundamentals Completing tasks independently while knowledge the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations Complying with all federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations as well as Woodland Pond policy and procedure at all times Position Summary The Wellness Nurse provides wellness services to independent living residents and is responsible for the employee health program ESSENTIAL tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*CF indicates Critical Function) Takes blood pressures, pulse, and temperature of residents as needed Provides assistance with knowledge medications, immunizations, blood pressure readings, and test results. The Wellness Nurse is not permitted to prepare or administer medications and/or injections for residents Assists in locating health care professionals such as medical specialists, physical therapists, private nurses, home care agencies, and medical equipment suppliers Provides first aid for emergencies only. The Wellness nurse is not permitted to provide regular continuing treatments such as bandage changes or wound care. If continuing treatment is needed the resident will be referred to an appropriate health care professional Assesses prospective independent living residents prior to their acceptance to the independent living community (*CF) Assists the Director of Resident Services with Independent Living residents' transitions to the Health Center; assessments of residents, communication with physicians and Health Center staff, meetings with family members Instructs and counsels residents regarding health maintenance and compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens Responsible for follow up and corrective action with accident/incident reports for both staff and independent residents (*CF) Responsible for processing discapability and workers compensation claims and leave of absence requests as needed Responsible for employee health which includes processing new hires (reviewing physicals, immunizations, and administering PPD's) and ensuring compliance with department of health regulations (*CF) Is available during regular business hours Monday through Friday. If there is an emergency in her absence 911 will be contacted or if a resident needs non-emergency medical attention they are encouraged to contact their physician and/or go to an urgent care clinic Completes all required training and in-services All other tasks as assigned GENERAL expertise AND ABILITIES Maintains high standards for work areas, attitude and appearance Understands that honesty and ethics are essential in the performance of tasks Possesses knowledge and expertise necessary to provide services to and communicate with primarily elderly population Has knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span Able to assess data reflecting of the resident's status and interpret the appropriate information needed identify each resident's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs Maintains predictable and reliable attendance Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; RN with two years practice or LPN with five years of practice Minimum of two years of nursing practice required, at least one of those years falling within the last five years. Two years of nursing with the geriatric population preferred One year of managery practice preferred Holds a current, valid nursing license to practice in NY State Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Excellent communication expertise, both written and oral Degreeof travel Occasional off-site meetings, seminars, and conferences Disruption to Routine Must adapt to frequent schedule changes and interruptions Safety Hazards in Job Stress due to the need to meet multiple and varying needs of residents. Exposure to potentially hazardous secretions or environments.
