Job Description – adjunct Front End Manager General Purpose Adams’ reputation is located on quality products priced competitively. It is also known for its friendly shopping environment and excellent customer service. The adjunct Front End Manager, working under the supervision of the Front End Manager, ensures all cashiers deliver outstanding customer service all the time and supervise scheduling within budgeted payroll hours. FLSA Status : Non-Exempt Reports To: Front End Manager Job Description » Ensure that customers receive the best customer service by providing friendly, polite, and expertiseable service » Greet customers personally and thank them appreciatively for shopping at Adams » Communicate with staff and store management on a regular basis. » Set the tone and example for employee morale, seek to improve it. » Interact with employees and assist customers in response to their concerns or complaints » Train and develop department staff; develop adjunct to completely back you up » Be familiar with and adheres to all laws, i.e. labor, unit pricing, sanitation, safety, etc. » Be aware of safety procedures and maintain an employee and customer safe department Specific task and tasks » practice operating cash register, master all upgrades » Ring out customers when needed » Be able to work nights and weekends » Check drawers to see if they are over or short » Help the customer service office & other departments if needed » Check all store registers to see if help is needed » Make sure cashiers take breaks and lunch – check payroll punch reports to make sure cashiers are punching in and out for breaks/meals » Supplying and handling change for cashiers » Ordering supplies such as bags, receipt paper, front end necessities » Check cashiers to make sure they’re using the right codes » Create valuable handouts » Responsible for making sure the entire check out area is clean, especially register areas, walls, windows, and floors » supervise that the employee discount is handled as stated by the Adams’ policy » Ensure you and your staff help all customers promptly & courteously » Keep alert and instill in your department to be observant of any suspicious person and notify Store Management promptly » All managers should refrain from socializing, flirting and unprofessional behavior with their employees during work. » As adjunct manager, you should listen to your employees and be there to help if needed. Compliment them for a job well done and do this often. » Be aware of safety procedures and maintain an employee and customer safe department. Personnel Related tasks » Assist manager in scheduling, supervising and training personnel in your department » Post work schedule for department employees at least 2 days prior to new week; monitor attendance and breaks » If assigned, create schedule to ensure that you or your adjunct are in the department during busy periods » Delegate areas of responsibility to your personnel when possible. Try to convey a feeling of satisfaction in a job well done » Solicit suggestions from your staff regarding improvements and changes in the department » Be certain all new personnel are fully trained before working on their own. Assign new hires to work with your most practiced staff members. » Insist your personnel have proper attire and are well groomed » Consistently give your staff positive and valuable feedback about their performance » Always reprimand in private, not on the floor & not in front of other employees or customers » When correcting an employee, or discussing something sensitive, always have another manager, adjunct manager or Human Resources with you as a witness. If you are speaking with the opposite sex, always have a manager of the employee’s same sex as your witness.
