Men's & Women's Diving Coach

Pay Status and Classification: Non exempt, part-time.This is a 6 month position.

manager: Head Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Coach

Position Purpose:supervises and manages all aspects of the diving program for both the men's and women's diving teams at Union College in conformity with all rules and regulations set for by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), Liberty League, and Union College. Responsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling and conducting practice sessions, preparing and managing a training plan, recruiting student-athletes and supporting the academic progress of our student-athletes.

Essential Responsibilities and tasks
   »Coaching and Training:Leads all workouts for divers, and is committed to mentoring and developing a group with wide ranging abilities and practice. Schedules and conducts practice sessions. Implements strategies for student-athletes to execute.
   »Recruitment: Identifies, evaluates, and recruits prospective student-athletes who align with the college's values and academic standards, in close consultation with the head coach of swimming & diving. Develops and maintains relationships with high school coaches, club coaches, and prospective student-athletes.
   »Administration:Assists in home and away meet preparation. Develops and executes a season training plan for boards and dryland. Present for recruiting weekends and team activities.
   »Team Development and Innovation: Contributes ideas, input, and support to Union Athletics initiatives, decisions, communications, and other activities.. Seeks out, applies, and shares expertise of new coaching trends and innovations.
Qualifications required
   » Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one year of practice coaching club high school or collegiate diving and/or a combination of significant education, training, certifications, and/or work practice. Master's degree and diving at the collegiate level is preferred.
   » Proficient in using trampoline and spotting rig for dive training.
   » Skilled in teaching new dives and evaluating diving techniques.
   » practice in judging diving competitions, including dual meets and championship events.
   » practice in leading, motivating and providing guidance to high achieving and competitive student-athletes.
   » practice in recruiting and prosperously identifying talented prospective student-athletes who can thrive in a rigorous academic environment.
   » Demonstrated expertise of NCAA rules and regulations.
   » capability to travel with the team, and work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends is required.
   » Physical General Requirements: capability to lift moderately heavy items (up to 30 lbs.) and stand, bend and stoop for extended periods of time.
   » The capability to foster and enhance a thriving, culturally diverse, and inclusive learning community, while promoting a sense of belonging among students, alumni, faculty, and staff colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications required
   » Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) lifeguarding training is preferred.

Compensation
The pay rate for this job offer is $16.00 per hour. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
