Listing description The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) is designed to improve access and retention of historically low-earnings and educationally underprivileged students. The EOP program is a vehicle for SUNY Orange to increase access, academic success, retention, degree completion, and transfer assistance for our EOP students. Reporting to the AVP for Student Engagement and Completion/EOP Director, the EOP Success Coach will provide support to EOP students with respect to academic planning, course selection and college adjustment. The EOP Success Coach will also advise EOP students on such issues as transition to life at college, which include academic success, financial responsibility, and career choice. this job offer will develop workshops and orientation sessions. The EOP Success Coach serves as an advisor and mentor all over the duration of each student's enrollment at the college. this job offer is responsible for all assignments and /or projects related to advising of EOP students in collaboration with the EOP Director. The EOP Success Coach will maintain channels and open the line of communication to make referrals with various office on both the Newburgh and Middletown campuses and community services which impact the Educational Opportunity Program and its students, e.g. Financial Aid Office, Student Accounts, Wellness Center, Career and Internship Services, etc. Additionally, this job offer will be expected to travel between both campuses and other locations as necessary for program events such as; high school recruitment visits, open houses, etc. General Requirements: Education Required: Bachelor's degree or higher in Education, Counseling, Social work or a related field. practice Required: Professional practice working in a college setting; participation in or familiarity with student retention and persistence initiatives; demonstrated capability to gather, assess and apply pertinent student information when developing interventions and programs; demonstrated involvement with student program development; familiarity with the financial aid and admissions processes. capability to interact with students from diverse backgrounds, particularly students who are first generation, academically underprepared and economically underprivileged. Preferred expertise, expertise, Abilities and Worker Characteristics: » Master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work, or related field. » College Level or Higher Education Academic Advising. » practice teaching new student seminars, and conducting educational workshops and presentations. » practice with Banner or a closely related data management system. » Advising or case management practice with low income, first generation and/or disabled students. » practice creating educational materials and publications. » General expertise of EOP or college-level TRIO programs. » capability to effectively establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents and the public. » Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality. » capability to coordinate workflow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines. » Bilingual expertise.
