Job Summary The Master Carpenter & Rigger will be responsible for rigging, scenic and staging elements of EMPAC's artistic, research, campus, and rental activities and will assist in the continuing research of performance technologies and media applications and provide functional project supervision. Minimum Qualifications Associate's Degree in Theater design, technical/staging, or related field » 5 years of practice in theatre carpentry and rigging in a high-level production environment. » practice with managing crews for production, load-ins and strikes. » broad expertise and practice with wood and steel scenery construction, shop and stage operations, and typical theater rigging methods as well as computer-controlled rigging. Preferred Qualifications » BA/BFA in Theater with emphasis on production technology (Technical/Staging, Theatrical Design, or related Performance Arts) » 2 years combined practice in theater carpentry and rigging in a high-level production environment. » practice with the mechanized systems of stage events. Minimum expertise, Skills, and Abilities » capability to work in a high pressure environment for fast paced productions in a four-venue performing arts center with avant-garde programming. » Detailed construction expertise of wood and steel scenery along with rigging and staging methodologies are expected. » Must be self-motivated, able to organize construction time and crews effectively to support a wide variety of artistic mediums, while delivering consistent quality in a production schedule. » Substantial skills and expertise with scenic and staging technologies, shop operation, and implementation of state-of-the-art rigging. » Working expertise of CAD aspects of design » expertise and practice with tour methods, construction and stage operations. » Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Software. » Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. » capability to work with a diverse population.
