Job Summary The Counselor I will facilitate the normal developmental process of Rensselaer students and assist students whose normal developmental process is being impeded by adjustment problems and other disorders. The Counselor I will work with students individually and in groups, as well as proactively work with the Rensselaer Community to create an environment that will allow students to maximize their personal growth. The Counselor I will also develop and implement mental health avoidance and education programs. The Counselor II will provide all of the above, and also provide clinical supervision to assigned staff. Minimum Qualifications Counselor I Minimum Qualifications for candidates for Appointment as Counselor/Social Worker * Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field. * Three (3) years of practice, with at least 1 year being post-licensure. * Licensed to practice as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. For candidates from other states or those who are license eligible, must be licensed at the time of employment. Minimum Qualifications for candidates for Appointment as Counselor/Psychologist * Ph. D. in counseling or clinical psychology * Licensed to practice in New York State * Two (2) years of professional clinical practice Minimum Qualifications for candidates for Appointment as Counselor II/Social Worker * Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field required. * Five (5) years of practice, with at least 3 years being post-licensure. * Licensed to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of New York. For candidates from other states or those who are license eligible, must be licensed at the time of employment. Minimum Qualifications for candidates for Appointment as Counselor II/Psychologist * Ph.
