The Meter Services Engineer position will work in Central Hudson Gas & Electric’s Meter Services area of the Electric Engineering Services Division. The incumbent will have primary responsibility for the performance of Itron’s MV-90 software and to provide administrative support for the design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of the MV-90 system. The Meter Services Systems Engineer will be expected to develop a good knowledge of the Company’s Manual of Safe Practices, the Labor Agreement and all Company Policies and Procedures. What does an Engineer - Meter Services Systems do? Main Responsibilities: » Responsible for the everyday maintenance of Itron’s MV-90 system » Ensures that accounts are set up correctly, everyday polling of meters, reviewing data for integrity, and resolving any issues » Performs regular data exports for billing and reporting » Develops the skill set necessary to become proficient in software quality of function, performance and compatibility testing including electric and gas meter vendor application software, meter firmware and related configuration files for correct operation and billing accuracy » Develops and recommends statements of engineering practices, service standards, equipment capcapability standards, and programming maintenance procedures to be used as a basis for system reinforcement, design, and operation as it pertains to electric and gas metering systems. » Provides general and technical supervision for personnel responsible for installation, testing and inspection of meters and related equipment » Consults, assists, and advises relative to work priority schedules for the Meter Department » Coordinates with various organizations, and internal and external stakeholders » Supports storm/emergency restoration efforts Additional Responsibilities: » Serves as a technical resource to the present AMI System and future full AMI Deployment and Operation » Supports overall AMI/PV Meter deployment and operating functions with analysis, troubleshooting, methodical problem identification and resolution activities, including timely installation of field equipment, AMI network optimization, system security verification, and any significant system upgrade planning and analysis » Responsible for maintaining meter programming and supporting AMI network equipment, AMI network equipment configuration, troubleshooting, testing » Monitors FCS/IEE/AMI system alerts and issues and addresses highly technical metering and billing issues daily » Assists with data validations, troubleshooting of meter read estimations, meter data downloads as well as coordinating and assisting field personnel to resolve and correct issues as required. » Strives to become proficient in SAP customer billing side and data integration process between FCS/IEEE and SAP » Learns, understands, and interprets significant industry standards and specifications including ANSI, C12, UL, NEMA, IEEE What does it take to be an Engineer - Meter Services Systems? Required: » Bachelor’s degree in Engineering » Excellent analytical expertise, strong Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) proficiency » capability to multitask and operate under pressure in a fast-paced work environment » Strong problem-solving expertise, with innovation in mind » Excellent written, verbal communication, interpersonal and persuasive expertise that will lead to working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders » capability to lgain and adapt to new expertise and procedures, including advancements in technology » Occasional travel as needed outside of service territory for trainings and/or industry group meetings » Occasional work outside of normal business hours is required » Valid driver’s license Preferred: » Previous gas industry and/or utility practice » Previous SAP practice Applications will be accepted until November 1, 2023 . this job offer has a career path which allows for advancement opportunities within a job series.
