Position description:
The Department of Psychology at Union College, Schenectady, New York, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of adjunct Professor specializing in Neuroscience. We encourage applications from individuals with identities historically underrepresented in the sciences. capability to teach, advise, and mentor a diverse population of undergraduates is essential. Area of research specialization is less important than research that is programmatic and theoretically directed toward knowledge the human brain. Areas of research that would complement our existing department include any using neuroscientific and/or computational neuroscientific approaches to study: sensation and perception; cognition broadly; memory; complex cognition; diversity; culture; social/emotional cognition; judgment and decision making; and/or neuroeconomics.

Ideally, our new colleague will offer courses at a variety of levels including including a combination of at least some of the following: introductory psychology, statistics, introductory neuroscience, lab courses in cognitive neuroscience and/or sensation and perception, as well as an upper-level neuroscience seminar within the applicant's domain. We also welcome a colleague with the capability to provide a psychological or neuroscientific perspective on topics that contribute to the College's general education curriculum, including courses that contribute to students' knowledge of and appreciation for Global Challenges and Justice, Equity, Identity, and Difference.

We expect that our new colleague will establish and maintain a vibrant research program that involves our undergraduate students. PhD by appointment date preferred. The College and department provide outstanding research support, including generous startup funds, and continuing internal funding opportunities for both faculty and student research. Shared departmental resources include brand-new EEG and eye-tracking equipment that allow for simultaneous data acquisition.

About the Psychology Department:
The Psychology department recognizes the rich possibilities of interdisciplinary studies () and currently provides support for the Gender Sexuality and Women's Studies and Neuroscience programs. Although all candidates specializing in Neuroscience are encouraged to apply, those who can support any additional Interdisciplinary Studies programs including those listed above, especially those with community-engagement interests are especially encouraged to apply. Compensation
The annual income range for this job offer is $81,500 to $83,500. Except for functions with a set rate of pay, the wage/income of the finalist selected for this function will be set located on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, practice, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
