Peer SpecialistPeer SpecialistJob location: Saugerties, NY Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Pay: $22–$23.45/hour General Requirements: Valid driver’s license About the function: We are pursuing a compassionate and dedicated Peer Specialist to support individuals facing challenges related to homelessness, addiction, or behavioral health. this job offer offers the opportunity to make a significant impact by providing advocacy, resources, and guidance to those in need. Peer Specialist Qualifications required » At least two years of advocacy practice working with individuals dealing with mental health issues or homelessness is desirable. » knowledge of counseling methods and principles for mental health and substance use disorders. » Familiarity with resources for homelessness, shelter systems, and local transit options is a plus. » capability to design, assess, implement, and adapt intervention plans to meet individual client needs. » Proficient in using computers and documentation software. » High school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or a related field is preferred. Peer Specialist Responsibilities: » Provide peer support and advocacy to individuals experiencing homelessness or mental health and substance use challenges. » Assist clients in accessing resources, including shelter systems, transit options, and community programs. » Use personal “lived” practices to foster knowledge and build trust with clients. » Support clients in developing and implementing individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans. » Document interactions accurately and prepare timely reports.
