Job Summary
The Pre-Health Advisor is a Sr. Student Services Administrator who serves as a central resource for all pre-health students at Rensselaer, regardless of their major or school. The Advisor will maintain a full and current analysis of admissions requirements and trends for medical schools (MD and DO), veterinary schools, dental schools, physician adjunct programs, and other allied health programs. The Advisor will advise and counsel Rensselaer undergraduate students on academic course requirements, course selection, and co-curricular activities to optimize success in preparation for and admission to these programs.
The Advisor will also serve as a resource for recent alumni in the health professional school application process, current students in the RPI/AMC Physician Scientist program, and faculty and staff in other offices on campus. The Advisor will manage the Pre-Health Advisory Committee, which provides interview preparation and submits composite letters of recommendation for students applying to medical school. The Advisor will also participate in and assist in planning events and activities for prospective and admitted students.

Minimum Qualifications
   » Bachelor's Degree in related field
   » Two (2) or more years of practice in academic advising, student services, student affairs, career development or other related field
significant combinations of education, training and practice may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications
   » practice in higher education, pre-health advising or similar discipline

   » Demonstrated proficiency with on-line degree audit and tracking system such as Degree Works
   » Exceptional interpersonal expertise with the capability to influence and build working relationships with a culturally diverse population at all levels across the Institute
   » capability to create a welcoming environment that is inclusive of students from diverse backgrounds
   » capability to efficiently multitask, work under pressure, handle frequent interruptions and meet deadlines
   » Proficiency in MS Office Suite software applications
   » Strong organizational and time management expertise with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail in a complex organizational environment
   » capability to work independently and contribute to a team environment
   » capability to work effectively under pressure and meet established goals and objectives
   » capability to anticipate and solve problems
   » capability to initiate projects and function as a self-starter

Starting income/Rate
Expected hiring range: $60,000 - $65,000
Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidate's income will be determined located on factors that include the available budget, internal equity, and the final candidate's qualifications, practice, education and other job-related credentials.
