The Technology Portfolio Manager is a highly analytical, service-oriented function that specializes in providing decision support and planning functions for the Technology Group. this function provides centralized coordination and oversight of financial performance, resource utilization, strategic planning, and project intake. The Technology Portfolio Manager leverages Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) processes to provide Management with information to enable informed decisions across the Technology portfolio. The Portfolio Manager supervises the Business Relationship Management (BRM) function, which is responsible for proactive engagement with business leaders and technical teams to develop solutions that align with corporate goals, strategy, technical best practices, and industry trends. The Portfolio Manager serves as the primary liaison to Accounting and Finance groups and supervises contractor staffing demand in alignment with department needs. Leveraging a collaborative approach and a strong financial acumen, the Portfolio Manager ensures accurate accounting of human capital and cost in alignment with project and operational demand. this function is essential for the growth and maturity of the Technology group and its capability to deliver sustainable value to the organization. What does a Technology Portfolio Manager do? The Technology Portfolio Manager reports to the Manager of Technology PMO/VMO/RIM/Compliance and is responsible for the following: » Establishes trust-located, collaborative relationships with Business leaders to proactively facilitate portfolio planning and project intake through the Technology Steering Committee » Provides centralized coordination and oversight of current and 5-year capital and expense plans to Financial Accounting team, supporting month end, year-end, and annual planning » Leverages Project & Portfolio Management tools to create project portfolio scenarios (models) and technology roadmaps located on business-driven prioritization, key constraints, and resource availcapability » supervises resource staffing demand forecasts and collaborates with Management to resolve gaps through the acquisition of 3rd party contract staff-augmentation resources or other portfolio modeling recommendations » Serves as primary point of contact for contract staffing vendors, providing support functions while ensuring high-quality contract resources at aligned competitive rates to augment Central Hudson strategic initiatives » Supports the creation of the Technology strategic plan, board reports, rate case, testimony, and steering committee materials in alignment with financial plans » supervises or performs Benefit Cost Analysis (BCA) activities and resource availcapability modeling to support project intake and process improvement initiatives » Reviews and validates vendor invoices and new requests for operational support & maintenance and contract staffing to ensure alignment with expense and capital forecasts » Serves as process owner for Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) activities and ensures adoption and continued improvement of related toolsets » Partners with the PMO and Resource Managers to ensure timely and accurate work order and resource demand tracker forecasts » Continuously seeks opportunities for cost avoidance or savings in alignment with the strategic plan and application portfolio rationalization initiatives; provides reporting as requested » Partners with technology and business analysts to proactively define technology solutions for business needs What does it take to be a Technology Portfolio Manager? Required: » Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems / Information Management, Computer Science, Business Management or related field of study and at least 3 years creating and superviseing capital and expense plans in a dynamic and complex, business and technology environment » practice creating estimates and cost plans and managing budgets / forecasts » practice implementing or operating Project & Portfolio Management (PPM) toolsets » Direct practice with IT portfolio management & dependency-driven project plan creation » practice managing direct reports » capability to demonstrate a keen attention to detail, strong financial acumen, analytical, and goal-oriented approach to executeing work » Excellent professional writing and executive presentation expertise » practice partnering with business teams in the definition and execution of business strategy » Familiarity with project portfolio and business request planning and prioritization » Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication expertise; capability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels » Expert Excel & Microsoft Project expertiseet » Valid driver’s license Preferred: » Master’s degree » Prior practice in a Business Analyst function » practice in Energy & Utilities or services industry » practice with a co-sourced environment » Background in Accounting or Auditing functions » Strong consultative expertise at a cross functional level » Strong vendor management expertise » Proven practice with strategic sourcing including contract negotiations, metrics reporting, and overall partnership cultivation Please go to www.centralhudson.com/employment.
